ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Connor Hellebuyck stopped all 35 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season as the St. John’s IceCaps edged the visiting Portland Pirates 1-0 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Will O’Neill scored the game’s only goal at 7:45 of the second period while the IceCaps (20-22-7) were on the power play. Brenden Kichton and Kyle MacKinnon each picked up an assist.

Mike McKenna turned aside 25-of-26 shots for the Pirates (26-19-3), who beat St. John’s 8-1 only one night earlier.

The IceCaps went 1 for 5 on the power play while Portland failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.
