ALBANY, N.Y. — Zach Redmond scored the lone goal as the St. John’s IceCaps shut out the Albany Devils 1-0 in American Hockey League play Friday.

Redmond’s power-play goal at 5:53 in the second period beat Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee to give St. John’s (11-9-1) all the offence it would need.

IceCaps goalie Eddie Pasquale took over from there and finished with 24 saves.

Frazee meanwhile stopped 22 shots for the Devils (4-8-5), who are last in the Eastern Conference.

It’s the third straight win for St. John’s, which pulled ahead of Manchester atop the Atlantic Division after the Monarchs lost 5-4 to Springfield later Friday.
