Frattin, Marlies look to build momentum

The Toronto Marlies are looking to build momentum with the second game of a home-at-home series against the Rochester Americans on Saturday.

The matchup will shift to Ricoh Coliseum Saturday where the Marlies will play their second of three straight games this weekend. Toronto is 3-0 in the middle games of three-in-threes in 2012.

The Marlies had lost three straight road games heading into Friday’s action, before wrapping up with the trip with a 4-1 win over Rochester in front of 6,197 at Blue Cross Arena.

Toronto is now 2-0 in the season series against Rochester.

Carter Ashton opened up the scoring on Friday with his fifth of the season while Matt Frattin continued his impressive play with two goals to lead the Marlies. Frattin has now potted seven goals in just six games this season.

Jerry D’Amigo sealed the victory with an empty-netter while goaltender Ben Scrivens made 28 saves to pick up his sixth win of the year. Maxime Legault scored the lone goal for Rochester.

The Americans have just one win in their past five games.

Heading into Saturday, the Marlies (10-8-0-1) sit in third place in the North Division standings, holding a two-point lead over the Americans (9-8-1-0).
