Eberle scores hat trick in less than 3 minutes

The Oklahoma City Barons must be hoping the NHL lockout doesn’t end any time soon, as Jordan Eberle continues to dazzle in the AHL.

After scoring four goals and an assist for the Barons in a 5-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage on Dec. 16, Eberle scored a natural hat trick in less than three minutes Monday night, including two goals in just nine seconds.

The Barons were out-chanced and out-shot 44-27 by the Texas Stars, but Oklahoma City’s top line of Eberle, Taylor Hall (three assists) and Mark Arcobello (two assists) lifted the Barons to the 5-2 win.

The hat trick marks the second of the 22-year-old’s professional career, the first coming on that five point night in mid-December.

The Oilers 22nd-overall pick in the 2008 draft currently leads the AHL in goals (23) and points (47). Teammate Justin Schultz comes in right behind Eberle with 45 points, leading the AHL in assists with 28, while Hall is in sixth with 32 points.

The Barons currently sit fifth in the AHL’s Western Conference with 38 points, just three behind the conference-leading Toronto Marlies.
