Who's hot, who's not

Matt Calvert enjoyed a double-digit final week of the regular season. The overage forward turned down a professional contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets at the beginning of the season to re-join the Memorial Cup host Brandon Wheat Kings. He is the Western Hockey League's hot player in the final installment of the CHL Hot-Not.
Québec Major Junior Hockey League
Hot team: Drummondville Voltigeurs
The defending league champion Voltigeurs are the hottest team heading into the post-season with a 16 game winning-streak. Drummondville outscored its opposition 23-7 in the final week of play and the only thing hotter than their goaltending is their scoring. Chris DiDomenico enjoyed a seven-point week and is ready to defend his team's title.
Hot player: Philip-Michael Devos, Victoriaville Tigres
The veteran forward capped off his breakout season with a big final week before the playoffs. Devos scored twice and assisted on four goals for six points in two games. The Tigres are a balanced and dangerous team heading into the playoffs. Devos led his team in scoring with 89 points while goaltender Kevin Poulin set a franchise record with seven shutouts.
Cold team: Halifax Mooseheads
The league's weakest team limped into the off-season without a win in the final week. Halifax lost each of the final three games of the season to run the losing streak to 13 games. The Mooseheads, who actually beat Drummondville and took Saint John to a shootout in the new-year, won their last game on Feb. 10 over the P.E.I. Rocket.
Cold player: Matthew Dopud, Rimouski Océanic
The overage goaltender struggled in his final week of the regular season. Dopud allowed nine goals on 43 shots for a save percentage of .791 through two losses. Rimouski obtained its goal of finishing second in the Telus Eastern Division, but will need more reliable goaltending in their series with Chicoutimi.
Ontario Hockey League
Hot team: Guelph Storm
The mysterious tale of the Guelph Storm season culminated with an undefeated March. The Storm struggled early in the season -- to the point where a playoff berth was in question -- but enter the post-season riding a six-game winning-streak. Guelph's offence is clicking, as it has most of the season and goaltender Brandon Foote finished the regular season strong. The Storm is a dark-horse with big potential for a first-round upset.
Hot player: Austin Watson, Peterborough Petes
Watson provided instant dividends for the Petes after being acquired from Windsor for Zack Kassian. The sophomore forward scored once and assisted on seven more for eight points in just two games and a plus-4 rating. Peterborough's line of Watson, Pat Daley and Matt Puempel is red-hot heading into the post-season.
Cold team: Oshawa Generals
The Generals sputtered when backed into a corner this season. Oshawa was not a very strong team in the stretch run, which is one of the main reasons this team missed the playoffs for the second-straight year. The Generals did not receive dependable goaltending from either Michael Zador or Kevin Bailie and finished the season on a four-game losing-streak.
Cold player: John McFarland, Sudbury Wolves
The former first-overall pick was held off the score-sheet in the final week of the season. McFarland is without a point in his final five games this season. The Wolves will need a bigger performance from their slumbering sniper as they get set to face the regular season champion Barrie Colts in the opening round of the playoffs.
Western Hockey League
Hot team: Calgary Hitmen
The Hitmen wrapped up its second-consecutive regular season title with an impressive run towards the playoffs. Calgary won its last nine straight and is unbeaten in regulation in the last 13 games to close the season. Veteran forward Brandon Kozun overtook Regina's Jordan Eberle to win the scoring race with 107 points. Calgary opens the playoffs against the Moose Jaw Warriors for the second time in three years.
Hot player: Matt Calvert, Brandon Wheat Kings
The hometown captain finished his final regular season with a bang. Calvert scored five times and added six assists for 11 points in the final three games of the regular season. He scored the game-winning goals over Moose Jaw and Regina to give him 10 deciding goals this season. Calvert finished the season tied for fourth in league scoring with teammate Brayden Schenn with 99 points.
Cold team: Edmonton Oil Kings
The third-year franchise took a step backwards this season after making the post-season a year ago. The Oil Kings lost their final eight games to close the season and finished the campaign with the second-worst record in the league. Edmonton's final win of the season came on Feb. 24 over Kamloops.
Cold player: Landon Ferraro, Red Deer Rebels
The second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings concluded his third season slumping. Ferraro, son of former NHLer Ray Ferraro, scored a goal and one assist in the week's first game, but was subsequently shutout in the last three games and boasted a ghastly minus-9 rating in the final four games. Red Deer will need their sniper to play better at both ends of the rink if they're going to upset the Saskatoon Blades in the opening round of the playoffs.
