Luke Pither's impeccable sense of timing has the Barrie Colts in control of their Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal.

Pither was the overtime hero as the Colts eked out a 3-2 win over the Brampton Battalion in OHL playoff action Sunday afternoon.

Barrie now leads the series 2-0 and will host Game 3 on Monday night.

Fresh off a penalty kill for too many men on the ice, Pither carried the puck from the neutral zone into Battalion territory and let go of a wrist shot that went over Patrick Killeen's shoulder and in.

"That penalty kill early in overtime was great for us," said Barrie head coach Marty Williamson. "Luke's one of those goal scorers who gets shots on net. He'll take the shot given the opportunity."

Pither has four goals and 10 points in six playoff games. Alexander Burmistrov leads the Colts with six goals and six assists in the post-season.

Elsewhere in the OHL, Ottawa edged Mississauga 2-1 in overtime.

At Brampton, Ont., Matt Kennedy and Alex Pietrangelo scored in regulation for the Colts.

The Battalion's Ian Watters forced extra time with just 1:02 left in the third period. Ken Peroff also had a goal for Brampton.

Barrie leads their series 2-0 and will host Game 3 on Monday night.

67's 2, Majors 1 (OT)

At Mississauga, Ont., Cody Lindsay's power-play overtime winner lifted Ottawa to a win over the Majors.

Shane Prince also scored for the 67's, while Petr Mrazek made 36 saves for the win.

Casey Cizikas had the only goal for Mississauga, while Chris Carrozzi stopped 35 shots.

Ottawa leads the series 2-1. Game 4 will be in Mississauga on Tuesday night.
