Committee to pick site

MONTREAL -- The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will ask an independent committee to select the venue for the 2012 Mastercard Memorial Cup.
The same process was used to select the Rimouski Oceanic as Cup hosts in 2009, the last time the tournament was held in QMJHL territory.
Teams must submit bids by Sept. 15. The committee, which is to be named in the next few weeks, will begin touring sites early in 2011. A decision is expected in April.
At a board of governors meeting Saturday, the board's five-member executive committee was unanimously re-elected.
Jean Brousseau of the Moncton Wildcats will serve a fourth term as board president. Gervais Munger of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens is first vice-president, Louis Brousseau of the Drummondville Voltigeurs is second vice-president, Jean Marcotte of the Victoriaville Tigres is treasurer and Julien Gagnon of the Quebec Remparts is secretary.
