Giroux leads Armada over Huskies

Tommy Giroux capped his hat trick with an overtime goal as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada beat the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Wednesday.

Giroux scored just five seconds into overtime as Blainville-Boisbriand (30-21-3) rebounded from a 5-1 loss to Val-d'Or the night before.

Antoine Quevillon and Mathieu Lemay each scored for the Huskies (16-31-6).

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Acadie-Bathurst 5, Shawinigan 4 (SO); and Baie-Comeau 2, Halifax 1 (SO).

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Quevillon gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead 6:15 into the first period, but Giroux scored his first at 15:17 to tie the game.

Giroux added his second on the lone goal of the second period.

That lead held until Lemay tied the game at two 1:18 into the third.

Armada goaltender Etienne Marcoux made 33 saves for the win, while at the other end Antonio Mastropietro stopped 20 shots.

Titan 5, Cataractes 4

At Shawinigan, Que., Robert Steeves made 46 saves, including a stop on a penalty shot, as Acadie-Bathurst (26-23-5) beat the Cataractes (35-12-6) in a shootout.

Drakkar 2, Mooseheads 1

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Tomas Filippi scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Drakkar (25-23-4) edged Halifax (28-17-6).
