Carozza nets hat trick to lead Remparts to OT win

QUEBEC — The Quebec Remparts were determined not to start their season with two-straight losses at home.

Massimo Carozza scored a hat trick and Matthew Boucher added the winner in overtime as the Remparts rallied to beat the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Carozza opened the scoring for Quebec (1-1-0) before adding another on the power play to close out the first period. He would tie the game 3-3 with a short-handed goal in the third period.

Boucher’s winner came three minutes into extra time on the man advantage.

Nicolas Desgroseilliers, Jonathan Bourcier and Antoine Marcoux scored for the Sagueneens (0-2-0).

Julian Galloway picked up the win in goal, kicking out 23 shots. Julio Billia made 35 saves for Chicoutimi.

The Remparts were 2-for-3 on the power play while the Sagueneens went scoreless on two chances.

ARMADA 5 PHOENIX 0

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Mark Grametbauer turned aside all 29 shots he faced as Blainville-Boisbriand shutout the Phoenix.

Brendan Hamelin opened the scoring for the Armada (1-1-0) in the first period with his first of the season. Connor Bramwell extended the lead in the second with a power-play goal. Samuel Tremblay, shorthanded, Philippe Sanche and Kristian Pospisil rounded out the attack.

Evan Fitzpatrick made 36 saves for Sherbrooke (0-1-1).

Blainville-Boisbriand’s Morgan Adams-Moisan received a match penalty for slew-footing at 3:02 of the third period.

WILDCATS 2 SEA DOGS 1

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Kevin Klima scored the winner at 15:46 of the third period as Moncton edged the Sea Dogs.

Will Smith added the other for the Wildcats (2-0-0).

Sam Povorozniouk found the back of the net for Saint John (1-1-0).
