KINGSTON, Ont. — Mitchell Theoret scored twice and added an assist as the Barrie Colts dropped the Kingston Frontenacs 4-2 on Monday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.
Barrie now leads the best-of-seven series 3-0, with Game 4 in Kingston, Ont., on Wednesday.
Andreas Athanasiou and Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele also scored for the Colts, while Mathias Niederberger made 23 saves for the win.
Mikko Vainonen and Ryan Kujawinski replied for Kingston. Goaltender Mike Morrison stopped 26-of-29 shots for the Frontenacs.
Theoret scored the first and last goals of the game. His first came 1:21 into the first period and then he put the puck into an empty net with less than a minute to play in the third.
Barrie couldn’t score on its seven power plays, while Kingston went 1 for 7 with the man advantage.

Nurse leads Greyhounds to win over Attack
SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — A third-period goal by defenceman Darnell Nurse gave the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds the 5-3 win over the Owen Sound Attack on Monday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.
The Greyhounds now trail the Attack 2-1 in their best-of-seven series. Game 4 is on Wednesday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Nick Cousins had a pair of goals for the Greyhounds. Brandon Alderson and Michael Schumacher also scored, while Matt Murray stopped 22 shots for the win.
Gemel Smith scored twice for the Attack, while Kyle Hope added a goal of his own. Jordan Binnington stopped 30 shots.

Hartman lifts Whalers past Sting 5-2
SARNIA, Ont. — Ryan Hartman scored twice as the Plymouth Whalers beat the Sarnia Sting 5-2 on Monday to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their Ontario Hockey League playoff series.
Rickard Rakell also scored twice for the Whalers, while Stefan Noesen had a goal and two assists. Plymouth opened the scoring just 1:03 into the opening period and built a 3-1 lead after just the first 20 minutes.
Vincent Trocheck added three assists in the win as the Whalers moved a win away from advancing into the OHL’s Western Conference semifinals.
Nick Latta and Anthony DeAngelo scored for the Sting, who have yet to hold a lead in this series and were outshot for the third consecutive game, this time 44-21.
JP Anderson made 39 saves in the loss, while rookie Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 19 shots for the win.
The Sting host Game 4 on Wednesday in the best-of-seven series.
Neither team scored on the power play, as Sarnia finished the night 0 for 5 and Plymouth missed on all four of its man advantages.
