Foreurs force Game 7 vs Drakkar in QMJHL final

Pierre-Maxime Poudrier scored twice and added an assist, and Antoine Bibeau made 43 saves as the Val-d'Or Foreur downed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-3 to force Game 7 in their QMJHL final series.

VAL D”OR, Que. — Pierre-Maxime Poudrier scored twice and added an assist, and Antoine Bibeau made 43 saves as the Val-d’Or Foreur downed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-3 on Sunday to force Game 7 in their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final series.

Ryan Graves scored a goal and assisted on two more, Guillaume Gelinas had a short-handed goal and an assist, and Anthony Richard and Randy Gazzola also scored for the Foreurs.

Alexandre Ranger, Alec Jon Banville and Valentin Zykov scored for Baie-Comeau, while Dominic Poulin tacked on two assists.

Drakkar goaltender Philippe Cadorette made 31 saves in the losing effort.

Baie-Comeau hosts Game 7 on Tuesday.

The Foreurs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Poudrier’s first goal at 10:41 of the first period, and Richard’s goal at 1:36 of the second. But Banville and Zykov led the Drakkar back to tie the game 2-2 before the end of the second period.

Val-d’Or’s offence scored twice within a three-minute span of the third period, but Ranger’s goal at 11:53 cut the Foreurs lead to 4-3.

Graves made it 5-3 and Poudrier’s empty-net goal with 56 seconds to go sealed the win and capped off a four-goal third period for Val-d’Or.

Baie-Comeau was an ugly 0 for 7 on the power play while the Foreurs failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
