BARRIE, Ont. — Zach Hall scored his second goal of the game 1:18 into overtime as the Barrie Colts defeated the Oshawa Generals 4-3 Wednesday in the opening game of their Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal.
Mark Scheifele and Steven Beyers also scored for Barrie.
Scheifele is riding a five-game goal-scoring streak in the playoffs.
Michael Dal Colle, Scott Sabourin and Bradley Latour replied for the Generals.
Dal Colle opened the scoring for Oshawa and Scheifele tied it midway through the first period.
A short-handed goal by Latour and an even strength goal by Sabourin gave the Generals a 3-1 lead in the second period.
Barrie tied the game in the third period with a goal from Beyers at 15:08, and a power play goal from Hall at 16:41.
Barrie, which had the OHL’s best power play in the regular season, went 1 for 7, while the Generals finished 0 for 3.
Mathias Niederberger turned aside 40 shots for the Colts, while Oshawa’s Daniel Althsuller made 32 saves.
