Ho-Sang’s 4-point night leads IceDogs past Wolves

SUDBURY, Ont. — It was the start to the season Josh Ho-Sang was looking for.

He scored once in a four-goal first period and added three assists as the Niagara IceDogs routed the Sudbury Wolves 8-1 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Blake Siebenaler and Anthony DiFruscia had a goal and two assists each for the IceDogs (1-0-0). Vince Dunn, Jordan Maletta, Matt Gillard, Ryan Mantha and Nick Pastorious rounded out the attack.

David Levin chipped in with a power-play goal in the second period for Sudbury (0-1-0).

Brent Moran made 24 saves for Niagara while Troy Timpano stopped 38 shots for the Wolves.

The IceDogs converted once on five power plays. Sudbury scored once on two chances with the man advantage.

COLTS 4, FRONTENACS 3 (OT)
KINGSTON, Ont. — Roy Radke scored 3:33 into overtime as Barrie edged the Frontenacs.

Michael Webster had a pair of power-play goals in regulation for the Colts (1-0-0) with Calgary Flames prospect Andrew Mangiapane adding the other.

Chad Duchesne, Ryan Cranford and Juho Lammikko, on the power play, chipped in for Kingston (0-0-1).

PETES 4, BATTALION 1
NORTH BAY, Ont. — Greg Betzold struck twice on the power play as Peterborough topped the Battalion.

Steven Lorentz and Adam Timleck had the other goals for the Petes (2-0-0).

Zach Poirier answered with a goal on the man advantage in the third period for North Bay (0-1-0).

Battalions forward Mathew Santos received a major penalty and was ejected at 3:46 of the second period for checking to the head.

OTTERS 5, STING 4
SARNIA, Ont. — Alex DeBrincat was one-of-five Erie players to have a goal and assist as the Otters held on to beat the Sting.

Kyle Maksimovich, Kyle Pettit, Jake Marchment and Nick Betz had similar nights for the Otters (2-0-0).

Jakob Chychrun, Hayden Hodgson, Alexandre Renaud and Daniel Nikandrov scored for Sarnia (0-1-0).

SPITFIRES 3, GREYHOUNDS 2 (OT)
SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Mikhail Sergachev scored 28 seconds into overtime as Windsor edged the Greyhounds.

Aaron Luchuk and Anthony Stefano added the others for the Spitfires (1-0-1).

Boris Katchouk and Jack Kopacka supplied the offence for Sault Ste. Marie (0-0-1).

GENERALS 3, STORM 0
GUELPH, Ont. — Jeremy Brodeur stopped all 23 shots he faced as Oshawa opened its defence of the Memorial Cup with a shutout victory over the Storm.

Owen McDade, Kenny Huether and Lukas Lofquist found the back of the net for the Generals (1-0-0).

Justin Nichols turned aside 26 shots in goal for Guelph (0-1-0).

ATTACK 5, RANGERS 4 (OT)
KITCHENER, Ont. — Bryson Cianfrone scored 4:27 into overtime and added two assists as Owen Sound edged the Rangers.

Santino Centorame, Jaden Lindo, Ethan Szypula and Nick Suzuki had goals in regulation for the Attack (1-0-0).

Jake Henderson chipped in with two goals for Kitchener (0-0-1) with Adam Mascherin and Darby Llewellyn adding the others.

KNIGHTS 5, BULLDOGS 3
LONDON, Ont. — Matthew Tkachuk opened his OHL career with a goal and two assists as the Knights got past Hamilton.

Owen MacDonald, Kole Sherwood, Aaron Berisha and JJ Piccinich also scored for London (1-0-0).

Stephen Harper, Matt Luff and Jake Bricknell, on the power play, had goals for the Bulldogs (0-1-0).

Bricknell was later ejected in the first period for removing his helmet during a fight with MacDonald.

STEELHEADS 7, 67’S 0
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Newly-acquired Jack Flinn kicked out all 19 shots he faced and Nathan Bastian scored twice while adding an assist as the Steelheads blanked Ottawa.

Jared Walsh had a goal and three assists for Mississauga (1-0-0). Marcus Dickerson, Josh Burnside, Brendan Harrogate and Daniel Muzito-Bagenda rounded out the attack.

Leo Lazarev started in net for the 67’s (0-2-0) and turned away 17-of-21 shots in 34:30 before giving way to Liam Herbst. Herbst made seven saves in relief.
