Hudon nets three as Drakkar clinch Jean Rougeau

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Charles Hudon scored three times and Philippe Cadorette made 21 saves as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar crushed the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueens 9-2 on Saturday to clinch the Jean Rougeau Trophy as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s regular-season champions.

Denis Gorbunov, Valentin Zykov and Maxime St-Cyr had a goal and two assists apiece for the Drakkar (47-16-5) while Nicolas Meloche, Alexandre Ranger and Frederic Gamelin each scored once.

Samuel Blier and Victor Provencher scored for the Sagueneens (27-40-1), who are on a five-game slide heading into the post-season.

Chicoutimi’s Domenic Graham allowed nine goals on 46 shots

Baie-Comeau went 4 for 5 on the power play while the Sagueneens scored twice on four chances with the man advantage.

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Francois Brassard stopped 47 shots as Quebec halted the Oceanic’s 16-game winning streak.

Nick Sorensen and Zachery Moody scored for the Remparts (39-17-12) and Olivier Archambault assisted on both goals.

Peter Trainor led all Rimouski (45-16-7) skaters with nine shots on Brassard, who earned his second shutout of the season.

Philippe Desrosiers turned aside 26-of-28 shots for the Oceanic.

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Keven Bouchard made 23 saves and Maxime Presseault had a pair of goals as Val-d’Or extended their win streak to five games heading into the playoffs.

Anthony Richard, Louick Marcotte, Samuel Henley and Jeremie Fraser also scored for the Foreurs (46-20-2).

Matej Beran had four shots on net for the Phoenix (16-43-9), who finish the season out of the playoffs and losers of eight in a row.

Sherbrooke’s Maxime Lagace stopped 16-of-18 shots before giving way to Francis Desrosiers, who allowed four goals on 24 shots in 30 minutes of action.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Georgs Golovkovs scored twice and Matthew Donnelly had a goal and two assists as Drummondville toppled the Tigres.

Dylan Montcalm and Frederick Gaudreau each had a goal and an assist for the Voltigeurs (43-21-4), who head into the playoffs on a six-game winning streak, while Ryan Culkin and Olivier Caouette had the others.

Victoriaville (33-27-8) got goals from Yan Pavel Laplante and Angelo Miceli.

Drummondville’s Louis-Philip Guindon made 17 saves for the win. Brandon Whitney allowed six goals on 23 shots through two periods of play for the Tigres. Francois Tremblay stopped 13 shots in the third period.

CHARLOTTETOWN — Mason McDonald made 35 saves and Zach Beaton scored twice as the Islanders handed Saint John its seventh straight defeat to end the season.

Luc Deschenes, Daniel Sprong, Josh Shatford and David Henley also scored for Charlottetown (21-39-8).

Spencer Smallman scored both goals for the Sea Dogs (19-44-5), who failed to reach the post-season.

Saint John’s Antoine Landry stopped 31-of-37 shots in a losing cause.

MOOSEHEADS 8 SCREAMING EAGLES 6

HALIFAX — Jonathan Drouin had a goal and six assists and Philippe Gadoury scored three times as the Mooseheads downed Cape Breton for their 12th win in a row.

Darcy Ashley and Nikolaj Ehlers each had a goal and two assists for Halifax (47-18-3) while Andrew Ryan and Danny Moynihan added single goals.

Julien Pelletier, Guillaume Gauthier, Charles-Eric Legare, Raphael Corriveau and Kyle farrell supplied the scoring for the Screaming Eagles (37-27-4).

Zachary Fucale allowed four goals on 16 shots for the Mooseheads before giving way to Kevin Darveau, who stopped 7-of-8 shots in a period of relief. Cape Breton’s Alex Bureau turned aside 44-of-51 shots in defeat.

MONCTON, N.B. — Jason Rioux made 35 saves as the Wildcats slipped past Acadie-Bathurst.

Mathieu Olivier and Vladimir Tkachev scored for Moncton (33-32-3), which heads into the playoffs 3-7-0 in its last 10 outings.

Alexandros Soumakis scored for the Titan (22-40-6).

Acadie-Bathurst’s Jacobbrennan turned away 27-of-29 shots in a losing cause.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Marc-Olivier Roy had two goals and two assists as the Armada downed Shawinigan.

Olivier Picard, Dominic Talbot-Tassi, Guillaume Beadoin and Frederic Bergeron also scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (41-17-10).

Anthony Beauvillier and Gabriel Slight scored for the Cataractes (20-39-9), who clinched the final playoff position Friday night.

Samuel Montembault made 15 saves for the Armada. Storm Phaneuf kicked out 16-of-20 shots for Shawinigan before giving way to Marvin Cupper, who stopped 11-of-13 shots in 32 minutes of relief.

HUSKIES 5 OLYMPIQUES 1

GATINEAU, Que. — Jean-Seabstien Dea had two goals and an assist and Marcus Power chipped in with three assists as Rouyn-Noranda halted its four-game slide by defeating the Olympiques.

Jason Fuchs, Jack Nevins and Francis Perron also scored for the Huskies (35-28-5).

Alexandre Belanger turned aside 35-of-36 shots for Rouyn-Noranda.

Vincent Dunn scored for Gatineau (41-23-4) and Anthony Brodeur made 27 saves in defeat.
