Jeff Marek hosts Sportsnet’s weekly CHL podcast, a one-stop shop for news, analysis, opinion and interviews covering the WHL, OHL and QMJHL. Sam Cosentino, the CHL’s top analyst/insider, will join Marek each week to discuss the latest from around the league, as will newsmakers from across the CHL. Couple that with NHLers remembering their days in junior hockey and regular updates on the latest risers and fallers for the NHL Draft, and there’s really nowhere else fans need to go.

On this week’s show, Jeff and Sam are reunited in studio and it’s a good thing because news was being made while they were taping.

  • They’re joined by Joey Kenward, play-by-play man for the Vancouver Giants, to discuss the departure of GM Scott Bonner and what it means for the franchise going forward.
  • The guys also look around World Junior Championship tryout camps and highlight some interesting players vying for spots and a few, ah, iiiinteresting (???) snubs.
  • As that was happening, news broke of Barrie Colts and Team Canada netminder Mackenzie Blackwood’s suspension. So Jeff and Sam jumped all over that.
  • And then they looked west to the Dub and a trade deadline that is fast approaching for a league with two spots at the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup and a wide open race for the top spots.
