Leslie scores twice as Storm thump Rangers

GUELPH, Ont. — Zac Leslie scored two goals and assisted on two more, and Justin Nichols made 34 saves as the Guelph Storm blanked the Kitchener Rangers 6-0 in Ontario Hockey League action on Sunday.

Brody Milne, Hunter Garlent, Brock McGinn and Scott Kosmachuk, with his 19th of the season, also scored for the Storm (19-4-3).

Jason Dickinson and Matt Finn had two assists each.

Jordan DeKort made 36 saves for the Rangers (8-14-1).

FRONTENACS 7, STEELHEADS 5

KINGSTON, Ont. — Henry Ikonen scored a power-play goal and an empty-netter and picked up two assists to lead the Frontenacs over Mississauga.

Roland McKeown and Darcy Greenaway also had power-play goals for Kingston (12-9-3) while Sam Bennett and Samuel Schutt scored short-handed. Ryan Kujawinski had the Frontenacs’ only even-strength goal.

Josh Burnside had two goals and two assists for the Steelheads (13-12-2), Trevor Carrick scored twice and added an assist and Dylan Smoskowitz picked up two points on a goal and an assist.

Mississauga’s Spencer Martin stopped 35 shots in defeat while Kingston’s Matt Mahalak made 25 saves for the victory.

67’s 5, ICEDOGS 2

OTTAWA — Ryan Van Stralen scored twice and added an assist as the 67’s edged Niagara.

Owen Stewart, Tyler Hill and Joseph Blandisi rounded out Ottawa’s (9-13-2) offence, which errupted for three third-period goals to put the game out of reach.

Billy Jenkins had a goal and an assist and Eric Ming scored the other Niagara (6-16-4) goal.

IceDogs goalie Christopher Festarini made 16 saves while Ottawa’s Philippe Trudeau stopped 25 of 27 shots for the victory.

COLTS 5, GENERALS 3

OSHAWA, Ont. — Barrie scored four straight goals to complete a comeback victory over the Generals.

Down 2-1 in the closing minutes of the second period, the Colts (14-8-3) attacked with goals from Andreas Anthanasiou, Andrew Mangiapane, Tyson Fawcett and Justin Scott to leap in front of the home team 5-2. Brendan Lemieux scored the first Barrie goal at 3:09 of the first period.

Scott Laughton and Michael Dal Colle had a goal and an assist each for Oshawa (19-6-1) and Josh Sterk scored the other.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 24 saves for the Colts while Daniel Altshuller made 30 saves for Oshawa.

WHALERS 2, SPITFIRES 1

WINDSOR, Ont. — Matt Mistele scored two straight third-period goals, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 44 saves to lift Plymouth over the Spitfires.

Brock Hiddink had two assists for the Whalers (11-14-1) in a game that was scoreless until 8:57 of the third period.

Kerby Rychel cut the deficit in half at 18:27 of the third with his 15th goal of the season for Windsor (15-9-0). Steven Janes had the assist.

Windsor goalie Dalen Kuchmey stopped 21 shots.
