CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Timo Meier scored twice — extending his point streak to 27 games — as the Halifax Mooseheads doubled up the host Chicoutimi Sagueneens 6-3 on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Philippe Gadoury also had a pair of goals for the Mooseheads (29-23-6) while Nikolaj Ehlers and Connor Moynihan each had a goal and an assist.
Ehlers extended his point streak to a league-best 32 games and has produced 73 points during his run. Meier, meanwhile, has put up 51 points during his scoring streak.
Charles Guevremont, Louis-Philippe Simard and Jesse Lussier supplied the offence for the Sagueneens (24-28-6), who are on a four-game slide.
Halifax’s Kevin Resop made 23 saves for the win. Julio Billia started in net for Chicoutimi, but started the third period on the bench after allowing four goals on 28 shots. Storm Phaneuf stopped 9-of-11 shots in relief.
The Mooseheads went 1 for 2 on the power play while the Sagueneens scored once on four chances with the man advantage.
