OHL: Bulls top Otters to snap seven-game slide

ERIE, Pa. — It was the end to a pair of streaks on Saturday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Chad Heffernan scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the Belleville Bulls beat the Erie Otters 3-1 to snap their seven-game losing skid.

Michael Cramarossa opened the scoring for the Bulls (13-12-2), with Jordan Subban adding an empty-net goal.

Travis Dermott responded with his second of the season for Erie (21-4-1), which saw a five-game winning streak come to an end.

Charlie Graham turned aside 33 shots for the victory. Devin Williams made 29 saves in 57:31 for the Otters.

Belleville failed to score on three power-play chances while Erie was also unsuccessful on four opportunities.

FRONTENACS 3 KNIGHTS 2 (SO)

LONDON, Ont. — Samuel Schutt scored twice in regulation and once in the shootout as Kingston edged the Knights.

Ryan Kujawinski had the other Frontenacs (11-9-3) goal in the shootout.

Michael McCarron and Aaron Berisha supplied the offence for London (15-8-2).

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Steven Lorentz scored two goals to help the Petes rout Ottawa.

Eric Cornel, Artem Vladimirov, Nick Ritchie, Hunter Garlent and Josh Coyle rounded out the Peterborough (9-11-4) attack.

Tyler Hill, Travis Konecny and Dante Salituro found the back of the net for the 67’s (12-9-2).

STING 4 WHALERS 2

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Daniel Nikandrov struck twice as Sarnia doubled up the Whalers.

Brandon Lindberg and Nikita Korostelev also scored for the Sting (12-11-2), who won their fourth straight.

Matt Mistele and Will Bitten replied for Plymouth (10-14-2).

GREYHOUNDS 5 STORM 1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Sergey Tolchinsky had a pair of goals for the Greyhounds as they dominated Guelph.

Bryan Moore, David Miller and Jean Dupuy rounded out the offence for Sault Ste. Marie (19-5-1), which won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Adam Craievich scored halfway through the second period for the Storm (14-10-1).

SPITFIRES 5 SPIRIT 3

SAGINAW, Mich. — Luke Kirwan struck twice as Windsor slipped by the Spirit.

Sam Povorozniouk, Ryan Moore and Cristiano DiGiacinto also scored for the Spitfires (9-15-1).

Sean Callaghan led the Saginaw (11-13-2) offence with two goals and an assist. Nick Moutrey also chipped in with a goal.

COLTS 4 WOLVES 3 (OT)

BARRIE, Ont. — Joseph Blandisi found the back of the net just 33 seconds into overtime as the Colts edged Sudbury.

Kevin Labanc scored two goals for Barrie (11-10-2), with Justin Scott picking up the other.

Danny Desrochers, Matt Schmalz and Nathan Pancel supplied the Wolves (4-20-1) offence.

BATTALION 3 ATTACK 0

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Evan Cormier made 30 saves as North Bay shut out the Attack.

Kyle Wood, Mike Baird and Mike Amadio chipped in offensively for the Battalion (13-5-5).

Michael McNiven turned away 21-of-23 shots in 59 minutes for Owen Sound (12-8-5), which dropped its third straight game.
