OHL commissioner considers hit on Fanelli

Ontario Hockey League commissioner David Branch has his priorities straight.

Branch said his No. 1 concern is the health of injured Kitchener Rangers defenceman Ben Fanelli, who suffered a fractured skull and orbital bone after being hit by Michael Liambas of the Erie Otters Friday night. Fanelli is in critical, but stable condition.

Reached by sportsnet.ca Saturday, Branch said he reviewed the play, but will wait a few days before looking at it again and determining if supplemental discipline is required.

“It is an emotional time and I think it is best if we let things settle before revisiting the hit,” Branch said.
