OHL: DeBrincat, Strome huge in Otters win

ERIE, Pa. — Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome stole the show on Friday night.

DeBrincat scored four goals and Strome added five assists as the Erie Otters remained undefeated with a 7-2 victory over the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League action.

DeBrincat, a 17-year-old who is eligible for next year’s NHL draft, also added an assist for a five-point game.

Strome was returned to the Otters (5-0-0) earlier this week from the Arizona Coyotes and was also recently named the team’s captain.

Christian Girhiny, Kyle Maksimovich and Jake Marchment rounded out the attack for Erie while Devin Williams made 31 saves.

Brendan Perlini had a goal for the IceDogs (2-5-0), with Ben Jones scoring late in the third period.

Brent Moran started in goal for Niagara but was replaced by Stephen Dhillon after turning aside 19-of-26 shots in 47:56. Dhillon went the rest of the way and stopped all three shots he faced.

The Otters converted on all three of their power plays while the IceDogs were scoreless on five chances.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Chad Duchesne scored a power-play goal late in the third period as the Frontenacs edged Mississauga.

Ryan Cranford opened the scoring 1:18 into the first period for Kingston (4-1-2).

Stefan LeBlanc chipped in with a goal in the second period for the Steelheads (2-3-1).

67’S 4 GENERALS 2

OTTAWA — Artur Tyanulin scored his first two goals of the season as the 67’s doubled up Oshawa.

Sam Studnicka and Jeremiah Addison had the others for Ottawa (2-3-0).

Owen McDade and Stephen Desrocher supplied the offence for the Generals (3-3-1).

STING 2 BULLDOGS 1

SARNIA, Ont. — Anthony Salinitri scored his third of the season in the third period to help the Sting slip past Hamilton.

Kevin Spinozzi had the other for Sarnia (4-2-0) in the first.

Mason Marchment scored a power-play goal for the Bulldogs (2-3-0).

SPIRIT 5 GREYHOUNDS 2

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Dylan Sadowy and Connor Brown each struck twice as Saginaw handed the Greyhounds their first regulation-time loss of the season.

Artem Artemov rounded out the attack for the Spirit (2-2-1).

Zachary Senyshyn and Morgan Frost scored for Sault Ste. Marie (4-1-2).

STORM 3 ATTACK 1

GUELPH, Ont. — James McEwan had a pair of goals to lead the Storm over Owen Sound.

Tyler Boston also scored for Guelph (1-3-1) for its first win of the season.

Bryson Cianfrone supplied the offence for the Attack (3-1-1).

SPITFIRES 3 RANGERS 2 (OT)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Christian Fischer scored at 4:59 of overtime as Windsor edged the Rangers.

Hayden McCool and Aaron Luchuk had goals in regulation for the Spitfires (5-0-1).

Adam Mascherin scored in the second period for Kitchener (2-1-1) before Connor Bunnaman tied the game at two shortly after with a short-handed goal.

KNIGHTS 6 WOLVES 2

LONDON, Ont. — Brandon Crawley struck twice as the Knights topped Sudbury.

Goaltender Tyler Parsons was credited with an empty-net goal in the second period for London (3-0-2) while Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitch Marner also scored. Christian Dvorak and Kole Sherwood added the others.

Jacob Harris and Dmitry Sokolov chipped in for the Wolves (1-4-0).
