OHL roundup: 67’s use strong 2nd to top Frontenacs

KINGSTON, Ont. – Connor Graham scored the first of three-straight goals in the second period for the Ottawa 67’s as they beat the Kingston Frontenacs 6-2 on Wednesday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Dante Salituro and Artur Tyanulin also had goals in the second for the 67’s (14-9-1). Sam Studnicka, on the power play, Stepan Falkovsky and Trent Mallette, into an empty net, rounded out the attack.

Ryan Cranford scored late in the first period for Kingston (14-8-2) with Jason Robertson adding the other.

Leo Lazarev turned aside 27 shots for the win in net. Lucas Peressini started for the Frontenacs, but was pulled after kicking out 11-of-15 shots in 34:38. Jeremy Helvig came on in relief and stopped 11 shots in 25:10.

Ottawa scored once on five power-play attempts with Kingston going 0 for 4.

FIREBIRDS 4 SPIRIT 2

FLINT, Mich. — Connor Chatham had the winner on the power play as the Firebirds handed Saginaw its seventh-straight loss.

Cullen Mercer also scored in the third for Flint (11-10-2). Josh Wesley and Connor Sills supplied the rest of the offence.

Kris Bennett and Artem Artemov scored for the Spirit (8-14-2).
