OHL Roundup: Attack beat Storm in overtime, extend win streak to six

GUELPH, Ont. — Markus Phillips scored at 3:54 of overtime and Jonah Gadjovich had a pair of goals as the Owen Sound Attack edged the Guelph Storm 7-6 on Friday, extending their win streak to five games in Ontario Hockey League action.

Nick Suzuki scored once and set up two more while Kevin Hancock, Maksim Sushko and Aidan Dudas also scored for the Attack (30-20-7), who are 9-1-0 in their last 10.

Liam Hawel struck twice for the Storm (27-23-7), losers of five straight. Alexey Toropchenko, Keegan Stevenson, Isaac Ratcliffe and Zach Poirier had the others.

Olivier Lafreniere turned aside 20 shots for Owen Sound as Anthony Popovich kicked out 31 shots for Guelph.

The Attack went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Storm failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

OTTERS 4 SPIRIT 1

ERIE, Pa. — Kyle Maksimovich and Chad Yetman scored 1:21 apart in the first period to lead the Otters past Saginaw.

Patrick Fellows and Owen Headrick also scored for Erie (19-29-10), which is 4-0-1 in its last five. Daniel Murphy made 25 saves for the win.

Blade Jenkins was the lone skater to score for the Spirit (27-23-8). Evan Cormier stopped 23-of-27 shots in a losing cause.

STING 6 FIREBIRDS 2

FLINT, Mich. — Michael Pezzetta scored twice and Jordan Kyrou tacked on four assists as Sarnia dealt the Firebirds their ninth loss in a row.

Marko Jakovljevic, Cam Dineen, Sean Josling and Drake Rymsha also scored for the Sting (41-13-4). Aidan Hughes made 26 saves for the victory.

Ryan Littlejohn and Connor Roberts replied for Flint (16-37-5), which got 37 saves from Luke Cavallin.

STEELHEADS 4 ICEDOGS 0

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Emanuel Vella was perfect on 40 shots as the Steelheads shut out Niagara.

Owen Tippett had a goal and two helpers and Nicolas Hague, Trent Fox and Cole Carter also scored for Mississauga (27-28-3).

Stephen Dhillon turned away 24 shots for the IceDogs (27-22-9), who are 1-7-2 in their last 10 games.

BULLDOGS 2 FRONTENACS 1 (OT)

KINGSTON, Ont. — Brandon Saigeon scored at 1:19 of overtime as Hamilton slipped past the Frontenacs.

Matthew Strome also scored for the Bulldogs (36-16-6) while Kaden Fulcher stopped 18 shots for the win.

Eemeli Rasanen found the back of the net for Kingston (32-18-9). Jeremy Helvig made 32 saves in defeat.

67’S 4 KNIGHTS 2

LONDON, Ont. — Merrick Rippon scored once and set up two more as Ottawa doubled up the Knights.

Tye Felhaber, Mitchell Hoelscher and Sasha Chmelevski also scored for the 67’s (26-24-8). Olivier Tremblay made 31 saves for the win.

Alex Formenton scored both goals for London (32-22-4), while Joseph Raaymakers turned away 20-of-23 shots in a losing effort.

RANGERS 3 WOLVES 2 (OT)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Joseph Garreffa scored 38 seconds into the extra period as the Rangers handed Sudbury its sixth straight loss.

Kole Sherwood and Connor Bunnaman also scored for the Kitchener (39-17-2). Luke Richardson earned the win with 22 saves.

Shane Bulitka and David Levin scored for the Wolves (14-36-8). Jake McGrath stopped 30 shots in a losing cause.
