OHL roundup: Brown and Bennett strike for Spirit

SAGINAW, Mich. – Kris Bennett and Connor Brown each struck twice as the Saginaw Spirit toppled the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs 8-5 on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Artem Artemov, Cole Coskey and Tye Felhaber added a goal and an assist apiece for the Spirit (16-17-3) while Matthew Kreis scored the other.

Adam Laishram had a pair of goals for the Bulldogs (14-18-3) and Michael Cramarossa scored once and set up two more. Matt Luff and Ondrej Kachyna rounded out the offence.

Saginaw’s Evan Cormier made 35 saves for the win as Connor Hicks kicked out 24-of-32 shots in defeat.

The Spirit went 2 for 6 on the power play while the Bulldogs failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

Hamilton defenceman Jesse Saban was handed a misconduct late in the second period for abuse of the official.

OSHAWA, Ont. –Jeremy Helvig stopped 40 shots and Conor McGlynn had a goal and an assist as Kingston downed the Generals.

Liam Murray, Jason Robertson and Tyler Burnie also scored for the Frontenacs (22-11-3) while Spencer Watson chipped in with two helpers.

Domenic Commisso was the lone scorer for Oshawa (13-18-5), which got a 15-save outing from Jeremy Brodeur.
