OHL Roundup: DeBrincat, Strome have big nights

ERIE, Pa. — Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome each had a goal and two assists as the league-leading Erie Otters downed the Owen Sound Attack 6-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Strome’s three points gave him 106 on the season and moved the Arizona Coyotes prospect past Matthew Tkachuk of the London Knights into fourth in the league scoring race.

Jake Marchment had two goals for the Otters (51-14-1), who are in a tight race with the idle Knights for top spot in the Midwest Division. Both teams have 103 points through 66 games, with the Otters having more wins than London.

Nick Betz and Travis Dermott rounded out the scoring for Erie.

Nick Suzuki and Damir Sharipzyanov had goals for Owen Sound (31-24-11), which is three points up on Sault Ste. Marie for sixth place in the Western Conference.

Devin Williams made 23 saves for Erie.

Owen Sound goalie Daniel Dekoning was beaten on three of the first four shots he faced before being replaced by Michael McNiven, who stopped 15 of 18 shots in relief.

Spitfires 6 Rangers 4

WINDSOR, Ont. — Logan Brown had a goal and three assists as the Spitfires beat Kitchener in a possible playoff preview.

Christian Fischer scored twice and Mikhail Sergachev had a goal and two assists for Windsor (38-21-7). Mads Eller also scored.

Darby Llewellyn, Miles Liberati, Dylan Di Perna and David Miller scored for Kitchener (43-16-7).

Kitchener is fourth in the Western Conference while Windsor is fifth.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Brendan Perlini had a goal and two assists and Stephen Harper added three assists as Niagara beat Kingston.

Anthony DiFruscia, Pavel Jenys, Josh Ho-Sang and Blake Siebenaler also scored for Niagara (34-26-6), which moved three points up on Ottawa for fourth in the East.

Spencer Watson scored twice and Graeme Brown and Warren Foegele had goals for Kingston (44-17-5), which has clinched already clinched the East Division and leads the Eastern Conference by seven points over idle Barrie.

Battalion 5 Wolves 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Mike Amadio and Steve Harland each had a goal and an assist to lead North Bay over Sudbury.

Justin Brazeau, Brett Hargrave and Cam Dineen also scored for the Battalion (33-23-10), who maintained a two-point lead over Niagara for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Cole Mayo and Alan Lyszczarczyk replied for the Wolves (16-45-5), who sit last in the East.
