OHL Roundup: Dellandrea overtime hero as Firebirds edge 67’s

FLINT, Mich. — Ty Dellandrea scored 4:58 into overtime as the Flint Firebirds edged the Ottawa 67’s 5-4 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Nicholas Caamano scored twice in regulation time for Flint (3-0-0), while Fedor Gordeev and C.J. Clarke chipped in as well. Garrett Forrest made 31 saves for the win.

Travis Barron struck twice for Ottawa (2-1-2), while Austen Keating and Graeme Clarke also found the back of the net.

Olivier Tremblay turned aside 26 shots for the 67’s.

The Firebirds went 1 for 7 on the power play and Ottawa was 1 for 6 with the man advantage.

RANGERS 3 OTTERS 2

ERIE, Pa. — Adam Mascherin scored the eventual winner early in the third period as Kitchener eked out a win over the Otters.

Joseph Garreffa and Jake Henderson also scored for the Rangers (3-1-1).

Gera Poddubnyi and Christian Girhiny replied for Erie (1-3-1).

ICEDOGS 5 PETES 1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — A balanced attack helped Niagara top Peterborough.

Danial Singer’s power-play goal in the second period stood as the winner for the IceDogs (3-0-0). Akil Thomas, Kyle Langdon, William Lochead and Kirill Maksimov chipped in as well.

Jonathan Ang was the lone scorer for the Petes. (1-2-0).

STORM 6 SPIRIT 3

SAGINAW, Ont. — Alexey Toropchenko’s power-play goal was the eventual winner as Guelph blew past Saginaw.

Zach Poirier, Garrett McFadden, Isaac Ratcliffe, Cedric Ralph and Barret Kirwin also scored for the Storm (2-1-1).

Cole Coskey, Nicholas Porco and Ben Badalamenti supplied the offence for the Spirit (1-2-1).

SARNIA, Ont. — Hugo Leufvenius had a pair of goals in the Sting’s rout of Kingston.

Drake Rymsha’s short-handed goal in the second period wound up as the winner for Sarnia (2-1-0). Adam Ruzicka had a pair of goals and Jordan Ernst also tallied.

Jacob Paquette and Cal Davis scored for the Frontenacs (3-1-0).

BULLDOGS 2 COLTS 1 (SO)

BARRIE, Ont. — Arthur Kaliyev and Will Bitten had goals in the shootout as Hamilton slipped past the Colts.

Matthew Strome scored for the Bulldogs (2-1-0).

Andrei Svechnikov was the lone scorer for the Colts (3-1-1).

ATTACK 6 STEELHEADS 4

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Matthew Struthers struck twice, including the third-period winner, as the Attack dispatched Mississauga.

Maksim Sushko, Alan Lyszczarczyk, Markus Phillips and Jonah Gadjovich also scored for Owen Sound (2-0-1).

Keean Washkurak, Shaw Boomhower, Cole Schwindt and Trent Fox responded for the Steelheads (0-4-0).

Mississauga’s Matthew Titus was given a match penalty for fighting at 2:37 of the first period.
