OHL Roundup: Flint halts Erie’s win streak

FLINT, Mich. – Will Bitten scored three times and Kyle Keyser stopped 40 shots as the Flint Firebirds halted the Erie Otters’ six-game win streak with a 6-5 victory on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Francesco Vilardi, Nicholas Caamano and Zach Grzelewski also scored for the Firebirds (10-10-2) while Ryan Moore tacked on three assists.

Dyaln Strome led the Otters (19-3-1) offensively with two goals and two assists while Travis Dermott and Alex DeBrincat both added a goal and two helpers. Jakob Mayenschein also found the back of the net.

Jake Lawr started in net for Erie but was yanked after allowing four goals on nine shots in 25:57 of action. Devin William took the loss after stopping 11-of-13 shots in relief.

Flint went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Otters scored on both of their opportunities with the man advantage.

KNIGHTS 9 STEELHEADS 4

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Matthew Tkachuk scored three goals and assisted on two more to power London over the Steelheads.

Aaron Berisha had two goals for the Knights (15-4-2), who scored six times on 11 power-play opportunities. Christian Dvorak and JJ Piccinich had a goal and two helpers apiece while Cliff Pu and Victor Mete also scored.

Stephen Gibson struck twice for Mississauga (12-11-2) and Michael McLeod and Owen Tippett rounded out the offence. Nicolas Hague received a game misconduct from cross checking midway through the third period.

FRONTENACS 5 WOLVES 2

SUDBURY, Ont. — Jason Robertson scored twice to lift Kingston over the Wolves.

Warren Foegele had a goal and two assists for the Frontenacs (14-7-2), while Jared Steege and Jacob Paquette supplied the rest of the offence.

Patrick Murphy and Alan Lyszczarczyk scored for Sudbury (5-17-2), which has dropped 10 in a row.

ICEDOGS 3 SPITFIRES 0

WINDSOR, Ont. — Brent Moran stopped all 23 shots he faced and Vince Dunn had two goals as Niagara blanked the Spitfires.

Anthony DiFruscia had the other goal for the IceDogs (11-9-2).

Michael DiPietro stopped 28-of-31 shots for Windsor (15-6-3).

COLTS 5 SPIRIT 3

SAGINAW, Mich. — Kevin Labanc scored two goals and set up two more as Barrie beat the Spirit.

Brendan Lemieux, Julius Nattinen and Cordell James, shorthanded in the second period, had a goal and an assist apiece for the Colts (15-7-0).

Dylan Sadowy struck twice for Saginaw (8-13-2) and Mike Davies had the other goal.

67’S 6 GENERALS 2

OSHAWA, Ont. — Dante Salituro had three goals and an assist and Travis Konecny set up five goals as Ottawa toppled the Generals.

Nathan Todd, Trent Mallette and Jeremiah Addison also scored for the 67’s (13-9-1).

Owen McDade and Matt Mistele responded for Oshawa (10-12-3).
