OHL Roundup: Garlent scores three for Petes in win

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – Hunter Garlent scored a hat trick in the third period, including two goals on the power play, as the Peterborough Petes rallied past the Mississauga Steelheads 5-4 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jonathan Ang and Greg Betzold, on the power play, had the others for Peterborough (30-26-6), which scored four times in the third. Dominik Masin tacked on four assists while Betzold added two helpers.

Sean Day, Stephen Gibson, Michael McLeod and Mason Marchment found the back of the net for the Steelheads (30-29-4), who dropped their fourth in a row.

Matthew Mancina turned away 18-of-22 shots for the win in net as Jack Flinn made 36 saves in defeat.

The Petes were 3 for 4 with the man advantage while Mississauga converted on its lone power-play opportunity.

BULLDOGS 5, STORM 3

HAMILTON — Matthew Strome had two goals and an assist as the Bulldogs got past Guelph.

Matt Luff scored once and added two assists for Hamilton (23-32-8). MacKenzie Entwistle and Adam Laishram also chipped in.

James McEwan, Nick Deakin-Poot and Garrett McFadden scored for the Storm (12-43-6), who lost their seventh straight.

ICEDOGS 3, WOLVES 2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Blake Siebenaler struck twice as the IceDogs snapped a three-game skid with a win over Sudbury.

Pavel Jenys had a goal and two assists to round out the attack for Niagara (30-25-6).

Ryan Valentini and Dmitry Sokolov scored for the Wolves (16-41-5).

SPITFIRES 4, BATTALION 2

WINDSOR, Ont. — Christian Fischer had two goals and an assist as the Spitfires doubled up North Bay.

Logan Brown and Hayden McCool also scored for Windsor (37-19-6).

Mike Amadio and Mathew Santos found the back of the net for the Battalion (31-21-9).

COLTS 5, ATTACK 3

BARRIE, Ont. — Justin Scott and Andrew Mangiapane had two goals apiece as the Colts got past Owen Sound for their fourth straight win.

Rasmus Andersson added the other for Barrie (39-20-2).

Petrus Palmu struck twice with Tyler MacArthur also chipping in for the Attack (30-22-10), who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

FRONTENACS 7, FIREBIRDS 2

FLINT, Mich. — Lawson Crouse had a hat trick and added an assist as Kingston routed the Firebirds.

Ryan Verbeek, Jared Steege, Michael Dal Colle and Spencer Watson rounded out the offence for the Frontenacs (42-15-4), who won their seventh in a row.

Francesco Vilardi and Keenan Reynolds had goals for Flint (19-36-6).
