OHL Roundup: Kaliyev scores twice to lead Bulldogs to rout of Spirit

HAMILTON — Arthur Kaliyev scored twice as the Hamilton Bulldogs routed the Saginaw Spirit 7-1 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Nicholas Caamano, Will Bitten, Marian Studenic, Matthew Strome and Connor McMichael supplied the rest of the offence for Hamilton (17-7-6).

Aidan Prueter replied for the Spirit (14-11-3).

Kaden Fulcher kicked out 22 shots for the win in net. Cameron Lamour combined with Evan Cormier for 35 saves for Saginaw.

The Bulldogs scored on both of their power plays while the Spirit went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Matt Hotchkiss had two goals and Jeremy Helvig turned away 36 shots as the Frontenacs topped Sudbury.

Tyler Burnie scored the winner for Kingston (16-8-6).

Dmitry Sokolov struck twice and Mario Culina made 27 saves for the Wolves (9-17-5).

OTTAWA — Stephen Dhillon stopped all 29 shots he faced as Niagara shut out the 67’s.

Matthew Philip, Danial Singer and Elijah Roberts found the back of the net for the IceDogs (16-9-5).

Olivier Tremblay turned away 27 shots for Ottawa (14-15-2).

STING 3 PETES 1

SARNIA, Ont. — Justin Fazio made 25 saves and Ryan McGregor had the winner in the second period as the Sting beat Peterborough.

Sean Josling and Adam Ruzicka also chipped in for Sarnia (24-6-2).

Pavel Gogolev scored for the Petes (15-14-2) and Dylan Wells stopped 48 shots.

COLTS 5 GENERALS 0

BARRIE, Ont. — Alexey Lipanov and Jason Willms each struck twice and Leo Lazarev stopped all 17 shots he faced as the Colts blanked Oshawa.

Kyle Heitzner also scored for Barrie (17-9-3).

Kyle Keyser combined with Cole Ceci for 33 saves for the Generals (13-16-2).

ATTACK 5 FIREBIRDS 4

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Maksim Sushko and Aidan Dudas had power-play goals in the first period as the Attack held off Flint.

Matthew Struthers, with the winner, Daylon Groulx and Jonah Gadjovich rounded out the attack for Owen Sound (14-11-4). Jacob Friend tacked on three helpers and Mack Guzda made 21 saves.

Maurizio Colella, Jake Durham, C.J. Clarke and Jacob Collins scored for the Firebirds (9-18-3). Garrett Forrest turned aside 29 shots in defeat.
