OHL Roundup: Knott leads IceDogs to rout of Wolves

Andrew Mangiapane completed a hat trick during a third period barrage by the Barrie Colts as they stormed back to down the Oshawa Generals 6-3.

SUDBURY, Ont. — Graham Knott had a goal and two assists while Stephen Dhillon made 31 saves as the Niagara IceDogs routed the Sudbury Wolves 6-1 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brendan Perlini, Stephen Harper, Tyler Boston, Pavel Jenys and Aaron Haydon supplied the rest of the offence for the IceDogs (24-15-6).

Kyle Capobianco had the lone goal for Sudbury (12-31-4), which got 25 saves from Troy Timpano.

Both teams went 0 for 5 on the power play.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jonah Gadjovich had two goals and an assist as Owen Sound snapped the Frontenacs’ three-game winning streak.

Bryson Cianfrone had a goal and two assists for the Attack (20-17-9). Jacob Busch and Damir Sharipzyanov also scored.

Stephen Desrocher and Spencer Watson chipped in for Kingston (30-14-3).

OTTAWA — Noel Hoefenmayer scored the winner as the 67’s held off Peterborough.

Jeremiah Addison and Ben Fanjoy, on the power play, opened the scoring for Ottawa (24-21-2).

Eric Cornel and Adam Timleck tied the game at 2-2 with goals in the third period for the Petes (22-20-6).

SARNIA, Ont. — Josh Jacobs and Matt Mistele had a goal and an assist each as the Sting slipped past Flint.

Pavel Zacha and Patrick White rounded out the attack for Sarnia (25-14-6).

Vili Saarjarvi scored twice and added an assist for the Firebirds (14-27-5), who lost their 14th straight. Nicholas Caamano had the other.

Flint’s Connor Sills was assessed a match penalty for slew footing at 18:30 of the second period.

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Matthew Kreis struck twice as Saginaw toppled the Greyhounds.

Jesse Barwell had a goal and two assists as Keaton Middleton and Brady Gilmour added the others for the Spirit (20-23-4).

Bryce Yetman, Blake Speers and Morgan Frost scored for Sault Ste. Marie (20-20-6).

GUELPH, Ont. — Mathew Santos scored twice and added an assist while Jake Smith stopped all 21 shots he faced as North Bay blanked the Storm.

Max Kislinger and Cam Dineen also had goals for the Battalion (24-16-6), who have picked up points in six-straight games.

Michael Giugovaz kicked out 32-of-35 shots for Guelph (9-31-6).

KITCHENER, Ont. — Luke Opilka turned away 20 shots as the Rangers shut out Windsor.


Connor Bunnaman and Jeremy Bracco scored as Kitchener (33-8-4), which won its third straight.

Michael DiPietro made 37 saves in defeat for the Spitfires (29-13-5).

LONDON, Ont. — Dylan Strome struck twice as Erie downed the Knights.


Kyle Maksimovich, Brett Neumann, Jake Marchment and Riley MacRae rounded out the attack for the Otters (38-7-1).

Evan Bouchard had both goals for London (34-9-3).

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Michael McLeod had a goal and two assists as the Steelheads beat Hamilton.

Everett Clark, Owen Tippett, Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Alexander Nylander scored the others for Mississauga (24-21-4).

Cole Candella found the back of the net for the Bulldogs (17-25-4).
