OHL Roundup: Leafs prospect Korostelev sends Sting past Bulldogs

HAMILTON — Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Nikita Korostelev had a power-play goal and two assists as the Sarnia Sting beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-2 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Kyrou, Jaden Lindo, Brady Hinz and Anthony Salinitri also scored for Sarnia (12-5-2).

Marian Studenic and MacKenzie Entwistle found the back of the net for the Bulldogs (10-6-2).

Justin Fazio made 39 saves for the win in net as Kaden Fulcher stopped 22 shots in defeat.

The Sting went 3 for 6 on the power play while Hamilton was scoreless on three chances with the man advantage.

FIREBIRDS 4 PETES 3 (SO)

FLINT, Mich. — Ryan Moore scored the only goal of the shootout as the Firebirds held off Peterborough.

Jake Durham, Hakon Nilsen and Everett Clark had goals in regulation for Flint (10-8-1). Garrett Forrest made 34 saves through regulation and overtime before stopping all three shooters in the shootout.

Jonathan Ang scored a hat trick in the third period for the Petes (9-6-3), who had a three-game winning streak ended. Scott Smith turned away 35 shots.

GENERALS 5 STEELHEADS 4

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Robbie Burt scored the winner in the third period and Jeremy Brodeur made 35 saves as Oshawa topped the Steelheads.

Sullivan Sparkes found the back of the net on a penalty shot with Mitchell Vande Sompel, Domenic Commisso and Eric Henderson also chipping in for the Generals (12-5-1), who improved to 7-0-1 in their last eight games.

Ryan McLeod had a pair of goals with Stephen Gibson and Stefan LeBlanc adding the others for Mississauga (6-8-4). Matthew Mancina kicked out 34-of-39 shots in net.

ICEDOGS 5 COLTS 1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Kyle Langdon scored twice and Stephen Dhillon made 41 saves as the IceDogs downed Barrie.

Akil Thomas, Danial Singer and Ben Jones also chipped in for Niagara (5-9-4).

Jason Willms had a power-play goal in the third for the Colts (6-11-2), who dropped their fifth straight. Christian Propp kicked out 24-of-29 shots.

London’s Cole Tymkin received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking to the head in the first period.

OTTERS 2 WOLVES 1

SUDBURY, Ont. — Taylor Raddysh scored the winner 24 seconds into the third period and Troy Timpano made 24 saves as Erie defeated the Wolves.

Alex DeBrincat tied the game 1-1 with a goal for the Otters (15-3-1), who improved to 14-0-1 in their last 15 games.

Macauley Carson opened the scoring for Sudbury (9-8-1) with Zack Bowman turning away 36 shots.

SPIRIT 4 GREYHOUNDS 0

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Evan Cormier stopped all 37 shots he faced as Saginaw blanked the Greyhounds.

Mitchell Stephens, C.J. Garcia, Cole Coskey and Jesse Barwell supplied the offence for the Spirit (4-10-3).

Joseph Raaymakers made 29 saves for Sault Ste. Marie (11-7-1).

67’s 3 STORM 2

GUELPH, Ont. — David Pearce struck twice and Leo Lazarev made 43 saves as Ottawa topped the Storm.

Chase Campbell had the other for the 67’s (7-10-2).

Albert Michnac scored both goals for Guelph (7-10-3), which got 16 saves from Liam Herbst.

KNIGHTS 7 FRONTENACS 0

LONDON, Ont. — Sam Miletic scored a hat trick and JJ Piccinich had two goals and two assists as the Knights blanked Kingston.

Tyler Parsons made 30 saves for the shutout and Janne Kuokkanen had a goal and two assists. Victor Mete had the other for London (11-3-3).

Jeremy Helvig turned away 5-of-10 shots in 28:25. Mario Peccia stopped 16 shots in relief for the Frontenacs (7-10-1).

RANGERS 4 ATTACK 3

KITCHENER, Ont. — Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Jeremy Bracco had two goals and an assist for the Rangers in their victory over Owen Sound.

Giovanni Vallati and Connor Bunnaman also scored for Kitchener (11-6-1), which snapped a three-game skid. Luke Opilka stopped 35 shots.

Nick Pryce, Kevin Hancock and Maksim Sushko supplied the offence for the Attack (10-10-0).
