OHL Roundup: Mangiapane’s hat trick keys Colts win

BARRIE, Ont. — Andrew Mangiapane scored a hat trick as the Colts downed Guelph 5-3.

Julius Nattinen had a goal and two assists, with Giordano Finoro adding the other for Barrie (34-16-2), which is on 10-0-1 run. Kevin Labanc chipped in with three assists. Matthew Hotchkiss found the back of the net for the Storm (11-35-6).

PETES 4 BULLDOGS 3 (OT)

HAMILTON — Daniel Nikandrov scored 1:19 into overtime as Peterborough edged the Bulldogs.

Logan DeNoble provided the offence with a hat trick in regulation for the Petes (25-22-6), who got three assists from Eric Cornel.

Mitchell Mendonca, Matthew Strome and Evan Krassey had goals for Hamilton (19-28-7).

RANGERS 5 OTTERS 4

ERIE, Pa. — Adam Mascherin and David Miller both struck twice as Kitchener edged the Otters.

Miles Liberati had the other for the Rangers (36-11-5), who got two assists apiece from Dylan Di Perna, Gustaf Franzen, Mason Kohn and Darby Llewellyn.

Darren Raddysh and Dylan Strome had a goal and two assists each for Erie (41-10-1). Taylor Raddysh and Alex DeBrincat rounded out the attack.

Kitchener’s Jeremy Bracco was assessed a match penalty and game misconduct for cross checking at 15:38 of the first period.

GREYHOUNDS 3 WOLVES 2<br>
SUDBURY, Ont. — Gabe Guertler had a pair of goals as Sault Ste. Marie topped the Wolves.

Hayden Verbeek also scored for the Greyhounds (25-21-7).

Ryan Valentini and Mikkel Aagaard had goals for Sudbury (15-34-4), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Macauley Carson of the Wolves was ejected for interference late in the second period.

STING 2 KNIGHTS 1

SARNIA, Ont. — Matt Mistele’s power-play goal in the third period was the winner as the Sting held off London.

Travis Konecny opened the scoring late in the first for Sarnia (31-15-7), which won its third in a row.

Christian Dvorak responded late in the third period for the Knights (38-12-3), who had a four-game winning streak halted.

FRONTENACS 6 BATTALION 5

KINGSTON, Ont. — Mike Amadio did his part but it still wasn’t enough for the North Bay Battalion on Saturday night.

Amadio scored five goals as the Battalion fell 6-5 to the Kingston Frontenacs in Ontario Hockey League action.

Lawson Crouse had a goal and three assists for Kingston (34-14-4). Spencer Watson, Conor McGlynn, Michael Dal Colle, Ted Nichol and Chad Duchesne supplied the rest of the offence for the Frontenacs, who won for the fourth time in five games. Juho Lammikko tacked on three helpers.

Maurizio Colella chipped in with three assists for North Bay (26-18-8).

Jeremy Helvig picked up the win in net after kicking out 14-of-15 shots in 16:53 of relief. Lucas Peressini started the game and turned aside 15-of-19 shots. Jake Kment took the loss, making 36 saves.

Kingston scored twice on three power plays while the Battalion were 0 for 3.

ATTACK 5 FIREBIRDS 4

FLINT, Mich. — Nick Suzuki scored twice and added an assist as Owen Sound rallied past the Firebirds.

Bryson Cianfrone, Jonah Gadjovich and Jacob Busch rounded out the offence for the Attack (24-19-9), who scored four times in the third period.

Will Bitten, Ryan Moore, Connor Sills and Cullen Mercer found the back of the net for Flint (16-30-6).
