OHL Roundup: Salinitri nets hat trick as Sting blank Spirit

SAGINAW, Mich. — Anthony Salinitri capped off his hat trick in the third period and Justin Fazio stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Sarnia Sting shut out the Saginaw Spirit 6-0 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Kyrou had a goal and two assists with Ryan McGregor and Franco Sproviero rounding out the attack for Sarnia (17-12-4).

Evan Cormier turned aside 21 shots for the Spirit (13-15-5).

The Sting were scoreless on four power plays and Saginaw was 0 for 2.

STORM 5 RANGERS 2

GUELPH, Ont. — Isaac Ratcliffe and Albert Michnac had two goals apiece as the Storm toppled Kitchener.

Givani Smith added an empty netter and Anthony Popovich made 27 saves for Guelph (12-18-3).

Dylan Seitz, on the power play, and Jacob Cascagnette scored for the Rangers (19-11-2). Dawson Carty topped 35 shots.

STEELHEADS 4 BULLDOGS 3

HAMILTON — Owen Tippett scored the winner on the power play in the third period as Mississauga edged the Bulldogs.

Scoley Dow and Ryan McLeod also had power-play goals for the Steelheads (11-15-6). Nicolas Hague scored the other and Matthew Mancina turned aside 34 shots.

Adam Laishram struck twice, including once with the man advantage, with Luke Kutkevicius opening the scoring for Hamilton (14-13-5). Kaden Fulcher made 18 saves.

FRONTENACS 3 GENERALS 2 (OT)

KINGSTON, Ont. — Nathan Billitier scored the winner in overtime and Jeremy Helvig made 26 saves to lift the Frontenacs past Oshawa.

Ted Nichol, on the power play, and Jason Robertson also chipped in for Kingston (14-13-5).

Riley Stillman and Medric Mercier, on the power play, had goals for the Generals (20-9-3). Kyle Keyser stopped 28 shots.

ICEDOGS 4 SPITFIRES 3 (SO)

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Pavel Demin scored the winner in a shootout and Stephen Dhillon made 40 saves as the IceDogs held on to beat Windsor.

Christopher Paquette, on the power play, Akil Thomas and Johnny Corneil supplied the offence in regulation for Niagara (10-16-7).

Mikhail Sergachev forced extra time when he scored at 18:01 of the third period for the Spitfires (21-6-5). Cristiano DiGiacinto and Aaron Luchuk gave Windsor a 2-0 lead and Mario Culina turned away 26 shots.

ATTACK 6 WOLVES 2

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Jonah Gadjovich struck twice and Nick Suzuki had a goal and two assists to lift the Attack over Sudbury.

Santino Centorame, Kevin Hancock and Matt Schmalz also scored for Owen Sound (20-13-1), which won its fourth straight. Emanuel Vella made 21 saves.

Darian Pilon and Chandler Yakimowicz had goals for the Wolves (14-18-2). Jake McGrath took the loss by stopping 20-of-25 shots in 23:46. Zack Bowman turned away 21 shots in relief.

COLTS 4 67’s 3 (OT)

BARRIE, Ont. — Zachary Magwood scored the winner 1:54 into overtime as the Colts slipped past Ottawa.

Anthony Stefano, Lucas Chiodo and Jaden Peca found the back of the net in the second period for Barrie (10-18-4). Ruan Badenhorst made 23 saves.

Artur Tyanulin, Austen Keating and Patrick White, on the power play, supplied the offence for the 67’s (14-15-5). Olivier Lafreniere kicked out 33 shots.

Curtis Douglas of the Colts received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking to the head in the second period.
