OHL Roundup: Sam Miletic completes hat trick in OT as IceDogs top Sting

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Sam Miletic completed his hat trick in overtime and added an assist to lift the Niagara IceDogs over the Sarnia Sting 6-5 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Kirill Maksimov, Danial Singer and Johnny Corneil also scored for the IceDogs (25-14-6). Ben Jones had five assists and Akil Thomas added three helpers.

Jordan Kyrou had two goals and an assist for Sarnia (32-12-3) with Sean Josling, Cam Dineen and Adam Ruzicka rounding out the attack.

Stephen Dhillon turned away 30 shots for the win in net as Justin Fazio made 46 saves in defeat.

Niagara went 3 for 6 on the power play and the Sting scored once on two opportunities.

BULLDOGS 4 OTTERS 3

ERIE, Pa. — Nicolas Mattinen scored twice as Hamilton topped the Otters.

Marian Studenic and Ryan Moore also had goals for the Bulldogs (30-10-6) while Nick Donofrio turned aside 19 shots.

Ivan Lodnia, Aidan Timmermans and Chad Yetman found the back of the net for Erie (13-25-9). Daniel Murphy kicked out 24 shots.

FRONTENACS 4 GENERALS 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Linus Nyman scored the winner and Jeremy Helvig turned away 26 shots as the Frontenacs got past Oshawa.

Jason Robertson, Tyler Burnie and Gabriel Vilardi supplied the rest of the offence for Kingston (23-16-7).

Domenico Commisso responded on the power play and Kyle Keyser made 27 saves for the Generals (22-21-3).

STEELHEADS 4 PETES 3 (OT)

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Ryan McLeod had two goals — including the overtime winner — and added an assist as the Steelheads edged Peterborough.

Nicolas Hague scored once and tacked on two helpers for Mississauga (21-24-1). Trent Fox had the other goal and Emanuel Vella kicked out 25 shots.

Pavel Gogolev, Gleb Babintsev and Christopher Paquette scored for the Petes (18-23-6). Dylan Wells turned aside 34 shots.

BATTALION 6 67’S 5 (SO)

OTTAWA — Adam Thilander scored the decisive goal in the shootout and Luke Moncada had a goal and three assists as North Bay held off the 67’s.

Daniel Walker had two goals and a helper for the Battalion (21-20-6) with Brandon Coe and Justin Brazeau also chipping in. Julian Sime made 29 saves for the win in net.

Sasha Chmelevski struck twice for Ottawa (19-21-6). Sam Bitten, Tye Felhaber and Jacob Cascagnette rounded out the attack while Olivier Tremblay turned aside 31 shots.

COLTS 6 WOLVES 3

SUDBURY, Ont. — Lucas Chiodo had a pair of goals and Joey Keane tacked on four helpers to lead Barrie past the Wolves.

Aaron Luchuk, Jason Willms, Andrei Svechnikov and Jaden Peca supplied the rest of the offence for the Colts (27-16-3). Leo Lazarev turned away 34 shots.

Blake Murray struck twice and Kirill Nizhnikov had the other for Sudbury (13-28-6). Jake McGrath made 36 saves.

GREYHOUNDS 6 SPITFIRES 4

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Boris Katchouk and Tim Gettinger each scored twice as the Greyhounds toppled Windsor.

Taylor Raddysh and Jack Kopacka also chipped in for Sault Ste. Marie (38-5-3) while Matthew Villalta kicked out 25 shots.

Jake Smith had a pair of goals with Cole Purboo and Luke Kutkevicius adding the others for the Spitfires (23-18-4). Brock Baier made 22 saves.

STORM 5 FIREBIRDS 3

GUELPH, Ont. — Isaac Ratcliffe scored a hat trick and an assist with Anthony Popovich making 36 saves to lift the Storm past Flint.

Cedric Ralph and Alexey Toropchenko also scored for Guelph (23-18-4).

Connor Roberts struck twice and Jalen Smereck had the other for the Firebirds (13-28-4). Garrett Forrest turned away 33 shots.

RANGERS 6 SPIRIT 2

KITCHENER, Ont. — Kole Sherwood had three goals and an assist to lead the Rangers past Saginaw.

Adam Mascherin scored a goal and added three helpers for Kitchener (32-14-2). Riley Damiani and Eric Guest rounded out the attack with Mario Culina making 31 saves.

Ryan Stepien and Mason Kohn scored for the Spirit (23-18-4). Evan Cormier turned aside 25 shots in defeat.

KNIGHTS 7 ATTACK 4

LONDON, Ont. — Alex Formenton scored a hat trick and an assist with Evan Bouchard adding four helpers to help the Knights over Owen Sound.

Liam Foudy struck twice with Tyler Rollo and Connor McMichael also scoring for London (26-17-4). Joseph Raaymakers turned away 38 shots.

Jackson Doherty, Aidan Dudas, Brett McKenzie and Nick Suzuki supplied the offence for the Attack (19-19-7). Olivier Lafreniere made 17 saves.
