OHL Roundup: Sokolov’s hat trick drives Wolves to win

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – Dmitry Sokolov scored a hat trick as the Sudbury Wolves downed the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-2 on Wednesday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Drake Pilon, Ryan Valentini and Michael Pezzetta also found the back of the net for the Wolves (7-3-1).

Alex Gritz and Conor Timmins replied for Sault Ste. Marie (7-4-0).

Jake McGrath made 40 saves for the win in net. Joseph Raaymakers started for the Greyhounds but was relieved after stopping 13-of-19 shots in 33:16. Matthew Villalta made nine saves in relief.

Sudbury converted on its lone power-play opportunity while Sault Ste. Marie was 1 for 6.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Taylor Raddysh had two goals and two assists while Troy Timpano made 28 saves as Erie edged the IceDogs.

Ivan Lodnia scored once and added two assists for the Otters (7-3-0), who won their sixth in a row. Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Fellows and Allan McShane also chipped in.

Christopher Paquette struck twice and Graham Knott tacked on three helpers for Niagara (3-7-0), which dropped its fourth straight. Matthew Philip, Ryan Mantha and Aaron Haydon rounded out the attack as Stephen Dhillon stopped 31 shots.
