OHL Roundup: Tkachuk leads Knights past 67’s

OTTAWA – Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and four assists to lead the London Knights past the Ottawa 67’s 5-1 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Christian Dvorak scored twice on the power play and added an assist for the Knights (43-13-3). Aaron Berisha also had a pair of goals with the man advantage and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner tacked on three assists.

Nathan Todd answered on the power play in the third period for Ottawa (30-27-3).

Tyler Parsons made 27 saves for the win in net. Leo Lazarev kicked out 16-of-20 shots in 40 minutes for the 67’s before giving way to Liam Herbst, who made six saves in relief.

London converted four times on six power plays while Ottawa was 1 for 7.

GENERALS 5 RANGERS 0

OSHAWA, Ont. — Jeremy Brodeur stopped all 36 shots he faced as the Generals shut out Kitchener.

Mitchell Vande Sompel, Kenny Huether, Anthony Cirelli, Eric Henderson and Alexandre Renaud supplied the offence for Oshawa (22-30-8).

Dawson Carty turned away 15-of-17 shots in 29:31 before giving way to Luke Opilka, who made nine saves in relief for the Rangers (40-13-6).

OTTERS 4 SPIRIT 2

ERIE, Pa. — Nick Betz was one of three Otters to have a goal and an assist as they doubled up Saginaw.

Jordan Sambrook and Patrick Fellows had similar nights for Erie (46-11-1), which won its third in a row. Jake Marchment had the other.

Mitchell Stephens and Blake Clarke scored for the Spirit (22-31-6).

BATTALION 6 BULLDOGS 1<br>

HAMILTON — Max Kislinger had a pair of goals as North Bay routed the Bulldogs.

Kyle Wood, Brett Hargrave, Justin Brazeau and Brady Lyle provided the rest of the offence for the Battalion (31-19-9). Brett McKenzie tacked on three assists.

Matthew Strome had the lone goal for Hamilton (22-31-7).

ICEDOGS 6 STORM 0

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Stephen Harper had two goals and three assists and Alex Nedeljkovic made 18 saves as the IceDogs shut out Guelph.

Josh Ho-Sang scored once and added two assists for Niagara (29-22-6). Anthony DiFruscia, Brendan Perlini and Vince Dunn rounded out the attack.

Michael Guigovaz stopped 51-of-57 shots in net for the Storm (12-40-6), who dropped their fourth straight.

WOLVES 6 PETES 3

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Dmitry Sokolov scored a hat trick and added an assist as Sudbury snapped a six-game losing skid with a win over the Petes.

Patrick Murphy had a goal and two assists with Mikkel Aagaard and Michael Pezzetta also chipping in for the Wolves (16-38-5). Alan Lyszczarczyk tacked on three helpers.

Matt Spencer, Jonathan Ang and Greg Betzold supplied the offence for Peterborough (28-25-6).

COLTS 8 STEELHEADS 0

BARRIE, Ont. — Dylan Sadowy scored twice and added an assist while David Ovsjannikov kicked out 27 shots as the Colts blanked Mississauga.

Julius Nattinen had a goal and three assists for Barrie (36-20-2) with Kevin Labanc adding a goal and two assists. Justin Murray, Michael Webster, Andrew Mangiapane and Cordell James rounded out the attack. Rasmus Andersson tacked on three helpers.

Jack Flinn took the loss after turning aside 14-of-22 shots in 40 minutes for the Steelheads (30-27-4). Joseph Murdaca stopped all 11 shots he faced in relief.

SPITFIRES 6 FIREBIRDS 4

FLINT, Mich. — Christian Fischer scored a hat trick and added an assist as Windsor won its fourth straight by getting past the Firebirds.

Bradley Latour had two goals with Aaron Luchuk adding the other for the Spitfires (35-18-6).

Ryan Moore chipped in with two goals and an assist while Zach Grzelewski and Will Bitten also scored for Flint (18-35-6).

Windsor’s Mads Eller received a match penalty for slew footing in the second period.

STING 4 ATTACK 1

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Travis Konecny had a goal and an assist as Sarnia beat the Attack for its third-straight win.

Jakob Chychrun, Anthony Salinitri and Kevin Spinozzi also scored for the Sting (35-17-7).

Bryson Cianfrone found the back of the net in the first period for Owen Sound (27-21-10).

Jacob Busch of the Attack was assessed a match penalty for attempt/deliberate injury at 5:31 of the third period.
