OHL Roundup: Vella makes 29 saves as Knights hammer Battalion

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Emanuel Vella made 29 saves while Janne Kuokkanen and Robert Thomas each had a goal and two assists as the London Knights blanked the North Bay Battalion 7-0 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Max Jones, Cliff Pu, Alex Formenton and Victor Mete had a goal and an assist apiece for the Knights (9-2-3), who are 5-0-1 in their last six outings. Brady Pataki added the other goal.

Brent Moran kicked out 26-of-33 shots for the Battalion (8-7-1).

London went 2 for 3 on the power play while North Bay failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Matt Luff struck twice, including the eventual winner 2:54 into the second period, as Hamilton slipped past Niagara.

Cole Ceci stopped 22-of-23 shots to earn the win for the Bulldogs (9-5-1).

Oliver Castleman was the lone scorer for the IceDogs (4-8-3). Stephen Dhillon made 31 saves in defeat.

PETES 4 FRONTENACS 2

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Jonathan Ang scored three times and Dylan Wells made 31 saves as the Petes doubled up Kingston.

Logan DeNoble also scored for Peterborough (7-6-2) to break a 2-2 deadlock in the third period.

Jason Robertson and Warren Foegele each had a goal and an assist for the Frontenacs (6-8-1), which got a 30-save outing from Jeremy Helvig.

SPITFIRES 4 SPIRIT 2

WINDSOR, Ont. — Jalen Chatfield and Jeremiah Addison scored 53 seconds apart in the third period as the Spitfires beat Saginaw for their third straight victory.

Luke Boka and Aaron Luchuk staked Windsor (11-4-0) to a 2-0 lead. Michael DiPietro made 25 saves for the win.

Mike Davies and Cole Coskey responded for the Spirit (2-10-3), who are on a four-game slide. Evan Cormier stopped 29-of-33 shots in defeat.
