OHL Roundup: Zacha has monster game vs. IceDogs

SARNIA, Ont. — Pavel Zacha had a five-point night — including a hat trick — as the Sarnia Sting beat the Niagara IceDogs 6-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jeff King had a goal and two assists for the Sting (13-7-2), who won their third straight. Nikita Korostelev and Patrick White also chipped in.

Anthony DiFruscia and Johnny Corneil scored for Niagara (10-9-2).

Justin Fazio turned aside 32 shots for the win as Stephen Dhillon kicked out 21 shots for the IceDogs.

Sarnia scored twice on four power plays while Niagara was 1 for 3.

Troy Lajeunesse of the Sting was assessed a match penalty for slew footing at 6:37 of the second period. Teammate Noah Bushnell received a game misconduct for leaving the bench at the end of the second. Bushnell was also given a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and a major for fight instigator on the play.

RANGERS 5 STORM 1

GUELPH, Ont. — Adam Mascherin scored the first of three goals in the third period for Kitchener as it got past the Storm.

Gustaf Franzen and Jeremy Bracco also found the back of the net in the third for the Rangers (18-2-3). Dylan Di Perna and Mason Kohn added the others.

Vladislav Barulin chipped in for Guelph (2-19-1).

BULLDOGS 4 67’S 2

HAMILTON — Matt Luff had a goal and an assist as the Bulldogs doubled up Ottawa.

Niki Petti, Brandon Saigeon and Stephen Harper rounded out the attack for Hamilton (8-14-1).

Jacob Middleton and Trent Mallette scored for the 67’s (12-9-1).

OTTERS 3 SPIRIT 2

SAGINAW, Ont. — Vanya Lodnia scored once and added an assist as Erie slipped past the Spirit.

Nick Betz and Kyle Maksimovich supplied the rest of the offence for the Otters (19-2-1), who won their sixth straight.

Artem Artemov and Mike Davies both had a goal and an assist for Saginaw (8-12-2).

ATTACK 3 SPITFIRES 1

WINDSOR, Ont. — Bryson Cianfrone struck twice as Owen Sound ended the Spitfires’ five-game winning streak.

Josh Sterk had the other for the Attack (11-7-4).

Liam Murray scored in the second period for Windsor (15-5-3).

PETES 3 GREYHOUNDS 0

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Matthew Mancina turned away all 39 shots he faced as Peterborough blanked the Greyhounds.

Eric Cornel, Josh Maguire and Steven Lorentz scored for the Petes (11-9-4).

Brandon Halverson kicked out 32-of-34 shots for Sault Ste. Marie (9-10-3).

COLTS 4 FIREBIRDS 1

FLINT, Mich. — Brendan Lemieux scored a hat trick in the third period to lead Barrie past the Firebirds.

Ben Hawerchuk opened the scoring in the second for the Colts (14-7-0).

Connor Chatham had a goal for Flint (9-10-2).
