Oilers’ prospect gets 21-game suspension

Oilers prospect Kristians Pelss has been suspended 21 games by the ECHL for a vicious two-handed slash to the face of an unaware opponent.

This is not the first time that Edmonton’s seventh-round selection in the 2010 draft has found himself in hot water, as Pelss received a four-game suspension from the WHL in February for a hit on Red Deer’s Aaron Boreyko.

Based on his questionable history, it comes as no-surprise that Pelss is known around some junior-hockey circles as "The Little Latvian Ball of Hate."
