Pierre-Luc Dubois among QMJHL MVP candidates

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Pierre-Luc Dubois of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Conor Garland of the Moncton Wildcats and Francis Perron of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are the nominees for the most valuable player award in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Garland led the league with 128 points, including 39 goals, while Perron was second with 41 goals and 108 points. Dubois was third with 42 goals and 99 points.

Winners are to be announced at the Golden Pucks gala April 6 in Montreal.

Rookie of the Year nominees are both from the Gatineau Olympiques — Vitalii Abramov and Mathieu Bellemare.

Those up for top defenceman are Thomas Chabot of the Saint John Sea Dogs, Samuel Girard of the Shawinigan Cataractes and Philippe Myers of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Nominees for the Mike Bossy Trophy as top professional prospect are Dubois, Julien Gauthier of the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Pascal Laberge of the Victoriaville Tigres.

The Ron Lapointe Trophy for coach of the year has Gilles Bouchard of Rouyn-Noranda, Mario Durocher of Val-d’Or and Benoit Groulx of Gatineau as nominees.
