QMJHL: Bower lifts Wildcats past Mooseheads

MONCTON, N.B. — William Bower scored a tiebreaking goal 13:00 into the third period to lift the Moncton Wildcats to a 4-3 win over the Halifax Mooseheads in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Tuesday.

Stephen Johnson, Noah Zilbert, and Eric Leger also scored for the Wildcats (24-10-2), who trailed 4-2 at the start of the third period.

Brett Crossley struck twice for the Mooseheads (18-16-3). Jesse Lussier had a goal and an assist.

Moncton’s Jason Rioux made 30 saves for the victory while Halifax’s Kevin Resop stopped 29 shots in the losing effort.

ISLANDERS 6, SCREAMING EAGLES 3

CHARLOTTETOWN — Oliver Cooper scored three goals to power the Islanders past Cape Breton.

Kameron Kielly, Mitchell Balmas and Ryan MacKinnon had the other goals for Charlottetown (19-17-2), which extended its winning streak to four games.

Evgeny Svechnikov scored one goal and assisted on another for the Screaming Eagles (12-19-5), who have lost three in a row. Marcus Hinds and Maxim Lazarev rounded out the offence.

DRAKKAR 3, CATARACTES 1

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Maxime St-Cyr and Valentin Zykov had a goal and an assist apiece as Baie-Comeau edged the Cataractes.

Jasmin Boutet also scored for the Drakkar (21-11-5).

Pascal Aquin had the lone goal for Shawinigan (19-17-2), opening the scoring at 6:05 of the first period.
