QMJHL: DeLuca, Oceanic down Islanders

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Anthony DeLuca scored four times and Alexis Loiseau set up each of them as the Rimouski Oceanic came from behind to beat the visiting Charlottetown Islanders 5-3 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Last season as a rookie DeLuca scored 22 goals in 67 games. This season he already has 15 goals to go along with 11 assists in just 17 contests.

Jan Kostalek also scored for the Oceanic (9-5-3), who trailed 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Jack Nevins, Yan Pavel Laplante and Matthew Bursey scored for the Islanders (10-5-1), who have dropped their last three games.

Rimouski’s Philippe Desrosiers earned the win by stopping eight shots in the third period. Desrosiers replaced starter Zachary Fortin, who allowed three goals on 14 shots. Charlottetown’s Eric Brassard stopped 42-of-46 shots in a losing cause.

The Oceanic went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Islanders failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

QUEBEC CITY — Fabrice Herzog scored twice and Callum Booth made 29 saves to lead the Remparts past Gatineau.

Maxime Chevalier and Zachery Moody each added a goal for Quebec (8-5-3), while Nick Sorensen chipped in with two assists.

Vaclav Karabacek and Vincent Dunn scored for the Olympiques (12-6-0), and Robert Steeves stopped 20 shots.

Quebec was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Gatineau went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

VOLTIGEURS 5 CATARACTES 1

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Olivier Caouette, Matthew Boudens, and Sergei Boikov each had a goal and an assist to lift the Voltigeurs over Shawinigan.

Jeremy Auger and Joey Ratelle also scored for Drummondville (10-6-1), which has earned at least one point in four straight contests.

Nicholas Welsh scored for the Cataractes (2-13-2), who are last in the QMJHL standings.

Joe Fleschler made 24 saves for the Voltigeurs. Shawinigan’s Storm Phaneuf stopped 27 shots in defeat.

PHOENIX 3 WILDCATS 2

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Francis Desrosiers made 39 saves as the Phoenix handed Moncton its third straight defeat.

Dominic Talbot-Tassi scored the eventual winner midway through the third period for Sherbrooke (5-11-2) while Vincent Deslauriers and Jean-Francois Plante had the others.

Mark Simpson and Kyle Haas supplied the offence for the Wildcats (7-11-1).

Moncton’s Alex Dubeau stopped 28 shots in a losing cause.

HUSKIES 5 FOREURS 4

VAL D’OR, Que. — Jean-Sebastien Dea scored three goals as Rouyn-Noranda edged the Foreurs for its third win in a row.

Dillon Fournier scored once and set up two more for the Huskies (10-5-2) and Julien Nantel had a single goal.

Louis Marcotte led Val-d’Or (9-8-0) with three goals and Anthony Mantha had three assists. Pierre-Maxime Poudrier added the other.

Rouyn-Noranda’s Alexandre Belanger earned the win by making 34 saves. Val-d’Or’s Francois Tremblay gave up five goals on 20 shots in a losing effort.

ARMADA 3 TIGRES 1

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Etienne Marcoux turned away 33 shots as Blainville-Boisbriand regained top spot in the QMJHL standings by downing the Tigres.

Olivier Picard, Ryan Tesink and Daniel Walcott scored for the Armada (13-1-1), who have a one-point lead over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar atop the league standings despite playing three less games.

Luc Deschenes scored for Victoriaville (8-7-1), which is winless in its last four outings.

Charles-Olivier Lajoie stopped 22-of-24 shots for the Tigres.
