QMJHL: Meir helps Mooseheads snap skid

HALIFAX – Timo Meier scored his second goal of the game 1:41 into overtime as the Halifax Mooseheads snapped a five-game skid with a 5-4 win over the visiting Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 19-year-old from Switzerland — who was playing in his second game since returning from the San Jose Sharks — also added two assists to finish with a four-point outing.

Cavan Fitzgerald, Arnaud Durandeau and Danny Moynihan also scored for Halifax (2-6-2), which trailed 4-2 before Meier and Moynihan scored to force the extra period.

Philippe Sanche struck twice for the Armada (4-3-2), who lost for the first time in three outings, while Guillaume Bergeron-Charron, Brendan Hamelin added the others.

Halifax’s Eric Brassard made 21 saves for the win as Samuel Montembault stopped 24-of-29 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand.

The Mooseheads went 2 for 8 on the power play — including Meier’s winner — while the Armada scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

VOLTIGEURS 4 TITAN 2

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Alex Barre-Boulet scored three times and Anthony Dumont-Bouchard made 30 saves as the Voltigeurs doubled up Acadie-Bathurst.

Joey Ratelle had a goal and an assist for Drummondville (8-2-0), which has won three straight games, and Michael Carcone added two helpers.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel and Vladimir Kuznetsov found the back of the net for the Titan (2-6-1), who got a 15-save outing from Reilly Pickard.

OCEANIC 4 REMPARTS 2

QUEBEC CITY — Dylan Montcalm had a hat trick as Rimouski beat the Remparts for its seventh win in a row after dropping its regular-season opener.

Tyler Boland added an empty-net goal for the Oceanic (7-1-0) while Louis-Philip Guindon made 28 saves for the win.

Dmytro Timashov scored once for Quebec (4-4-1) and assisted on Bronson Beaton’s goal. Callum Booth kicked out 12-of-15 shots in defeat.
