QMJHL Roundup: Alexeyev’s four-point night leads Phoenix past Sea Dogs

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Yaroslav Alexeyev scored three times and set up another as the Sherbrooke Phoenix downed the Saint John Sea Dogs 6-1 on Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Hugo Roy had a goal and two assists for the Phoenix (23-22-11) while Nicolas Roy and Thomas Gregoire also scored.

Ostap Safin kept the last-place Sea Dogs (13-32-9) from behing shut out.

Thommy Monette made 15 saves for Sherbrooke as Alex D’Orio turned away 41 shots for Saint John.

The Phoenix went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Sea Dogs failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Mathieu Nadeau scored twice in the second period as the Oceanic halted Victoriaville’s six-game win streak.

Samuel Dove-McFalls and Carson MacKinnon also scored for Rimouski (34-14-6), which has won three in a row. Colten Ellis made 28 saves for the win.

Vitalii Abramov and Maxime Comtois found the back of the net for the Tigres (31-19-6). Tristan Cote-Cazenave turned aside 27-of-30 shots in a losing cause.

Victoriaville’ Jimmy Huntington and Rimouski’s Alex-Olivier Voyer were tossed 41 seconds into the second period for a staged fight.

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Mathieu Boucher had two goals and two assists and Samuel Harvey made 20 saves as the Huskies handed Val-d’Or its eighth loss in a row.

Alex Beaucage and Peter Abbandonato each had a pair of goals for Rouyn-Noranda (32-15-8) while Zachary Ouellet and Rafael Harvey-Pinard had the others.

Jonathan Lemieux stopped 34 shots for the Foreurs (18-32-4).

MONCTON, N.B. — Jeffrey Truchon-Viel scored the eventual winner at 1:55 of the second period as Acadie-Bathurst beat the Wildcats for its fourth win in a row.

Keenan MacIsaac, Ethan Crossman, Samuel L’Italien and Jordan Maher also scored for the Titan (33-14-8), who got 20 saves from Evan Fitzpatrick.

Jakob Pelletier was the lone scorer for Moncton (23-25-8), losers of four straight. Matthew Waite combined with Mark Grametbauer for 31 saves in defeat.

Acadie-Bathurst forward German Rubtsov was ejected early in the third period after taking a major for checking from behind.

OLYMPIQUES 7 ISLANDERS 3

GATINEAU, Que. — Shawn Boudrias had three goals and an assist while Dawson Theede added a goal and three helpers as the Olympiques downed Charlottetown.

Alexandre Landreville, Darien Kielb and Alec Malo also scored for the Olympiques (28-20-6). Creed Jones made 34 saves for the win.

Keith Getson, Brett Budgell and Derek Gentile replied for the Islanders (29-21-4). Dakota Lund-Cornish combined with Matthew Welsh for 20 saves in defeat.

Four players were ejected midway through the third period. Charlottetown’s Taylor Egan and Olivier Desjardins, as well as Gatineau’s Anthony Beauchamp were sent to the locker-room for fighting after the original altercation. Meanwhile, Theed was given a game misconduct for being the aggressor.
