QMJHL Roundup: Asselin helps Cataractes rally past Armada

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Samuel Asselin scored a tiebreaking goal in the third period and the Shawinigan Cataractes rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Tommy Lemay opened the scoring for Shawinigan (2-1) before the Armada (0-3) struck with three straight goals from Charlie Roy, Yvan Mongo and William Gignac.

Charles Taillon pulled the Cataractes within one midway through the second and Simon Benoit tied the game 14 seconds before Asselin pulled Shawinigan ahead. Mathieu Olivier added an insurance goal two minutes later.

Zachary Bouthillier turned aside 29 shots in the victory.

Francis Leclerc made 13 saves for Blainville-Boisbriand.

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Antoine Waked had two goals to lift Rouyn-Noranda over the Foreurs.

William Cyr and Rafael Harvey-Pinard also scored for the Huskies (2-0). Cyr broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second period while Harvey-Pinard added an empty-netter with three seconds remaining.

Mathieu Nadeau had the lone goal for Val-d’Or (2-1).
