QMJHL Roundup: Blanchard leads Titan past Tigres

BATHURST, N.B. — Nicholas Blanchard scored two goals and assisted on one more as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan downed the Victoriaville Tigres 7-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Christophe Boivin, Raphael Corriveau, and Aaron Kerr each had a goal and an assist for the Titan (8-15-2), and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel and Nathan Medeiros also scored. Mark Simpson chipped in with four helpers.

Gabriel Gagne and Felix Lauzon replied for the Tigres (12-9-3), who dropped their third straight game.

Acadie-Bathurst goaltender Jacob Brennan made 27 saves. Victoriaville’s Francois Tremblay stopped 34-of-41 shots.

The Titan were 1 for 7 on the power play while the Tigres scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Brandon Whitney made 27 saves as Gatineau blanked the Phoenix.

Alexandre Alain scored the lone goal for the Olympiques (11-10-4), unassisted at 5:49 of the third period.

Alex Bureau made 20 saves for Sherbrooke (14-8-1) in the loss.

ISLANDERS 5 VOLTIGEURS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Filip Chlapik scored three goals and tacked on two assists to lead the Islanders over Drummondville.

Alexandre Goulet had a goal and two helpers for Charlottetown (12-11-2), which won its third straight game, and Daniel Sprong also scored.

Alex Barre-Boulet had the lone goal for the Voltiguers (10-11-2), on the power play in the second period.

DRAKKAR 4 SAGUENEENS 0

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Philippe Cadorette made 28 saves and Luca Ciampini had a hat trick to lead the Drakkar over Chicoutimi.

Maxime St-Cyr also scored for Baie-Comeau (16-6-3) and he assisted on one of Ciampini’s goals as well.

Storm Phaneuf started in net for the Sagueneens (8-14-1), stopping 5-of-7 shots through 7:32. Julio Billia made 23 saves on 25 shots the rest of the way.

OCEANIC 3 ARMADA 2 (OT)

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Anthony DeLuca scored a power-play goal 1:23 into overtime to lift the Oceanic over Blainville-Boisbriand.

William Couture and Vincent Dunn also scored for Rimouski (17-6-2), which won its fourth straight game.

Danick Martel and Nikita Jevpalovs had a goal and an assist apiece for the Armada (13-6-3).

FOREURS 7 REMPARTS 4

VAL-d’OR, Que. — Pierre-Maxime Poudrier and Jan Mandat scored two goals apiece to lead the Foreurs over Quebec.

Anthony Beauregard scored one goal and helped on two more, and Nathan Tremblay and Jeremie Fraser also scored for Val-d’Or (9-12-3), which went 2 for 7 on the power play. Julien Gauthier failed to score on a penalty shot at 5:17 of the first period.

Kury Etchegary struck twice for the Remparts (15-8-0) and Marc-Olivier Roy and Zachary Moody also found the back of the net. Dmytro Timashov was unsuccessful on a penalty shot at 12:30 of the first period.
