QMJHL Roundup: Cataractes rout Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN — Anthony Beauvillier scored twice an added an assist to lead the Shawinigan Cataractes past the Charlottetown Islanders 7-3 on Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alex Pawelczyk has a short-handed goal for Shawinigan (33-13-3), while Gabriel Gagne, Mathieu Olivier, Nicholas Welsh and Brandon Gignac also scored. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Dmytro Timashov had three assists. Philippe Cadorette made 38 saves for the win.

Daniel Sprong had a goal and set up two others for Charlottetown (21-23-7), while Oliver Cooper and Luc Deschenes also scored. Goaltender Mason McDonald stopped 25-of-31 shots.

The Cataractes did not score on their two power plays, while the Islanders went 3 for 6 with the man advantage.

SEA DOGS 4 WILDCATS 1

MONCTON, N.B. — Daniel Del Paggio struck twice — once into an empty net — as Saint John topped the Wildcats.

Sam Povorozniouk and Nathan Noel also scored as the Sea Dogs (32-13-4) reeled off four unanswered goals.

Kelly Klima was the lone scorer for Moncton (30-15-7).

VOLTIGEURS 5 REMPARTS 1

QUEBEC CITY — Michael Carcone had back-to-back goals as Drummondville knocked off the Remparts.

Philippe Pelletier-Leblanc, Gabriel Slight and Mathieu Sevigny also scored for the Voltigeurs (23-26-2).

Auguste Impose replied for Quebec (24-21-5).

PHOENIX-DRAKKAR (Postponed)
