QMJHL Roundup: Foreurs power past Titan

BATHURST, N.B. — Alexis Pepin scored a hat trick as the Val-d’Or Foreurs beat the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 7-5 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Anthony Richard had a goal and two assists for the Foreurs (20-7-3), who also got goals from Julien Gauthier, Anthony Beauregard and Olivier Galipeau. Nicolas Aube-Kubel tacked on three assists.

Antoine Morand had a hat trick of his own for Acadie-Bathurst (10-18-3) while also adding an assist. Jeffrey Truchon-Viel struck twice and Vladimir Kuznetsov chipped in with four assists.

Dereck Baribeau made 15 saves for the win in net as Marc Audet turned away 39 shots in a losing effort.

Both teams scored twice on four power-play chances.

HUSKIES 5 MOOSEHEADS 2

HALIFAX — Antoine Waked was one of three Rouyn-Noranda players to have a goal and an assist as it downed the Mooseheads.

Martins Dzierkals and Jean-Christophe Beaudin had similar nights for the Huskies (22-3-4). Gabriel Fontaine and Alexandre Forton also chipped in.

Maxime Fortier and Timo Meier scored for Halifax (11-15-4).

WILDCATS 4 SEA DOGS 3

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Cameron Askew had a pair of power-play goals in a three-goal third period for Moncton as it beat the Sea Dogs.

Conor Garland also had a pair of goals for the Wildcats (20-8-3) and extended his point streak to 26 games.

Nathan Noel, Adam Marsh and Mathieu Joseph scored for Saint John (16-11-2).

SAGUENEENS 5 TIGRES 4 (SO)

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Nicolas Roy, Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau and Dmitry Zhukenov all scored in the shootout as the Sagueneens edged Victoriaville.

Jonathan Bourcier had a goal and two assists in regulation for Chicoutimi (12-14-4), which also got goals from Paquin-Boudreau, Roy and Frederic Allard.

Samuel Blais scored twice and added an assist in regulation for the Tigres (12-12-5). Mario Huber had a goal and two assists while Jean Gleizes also chipped in.

CATARACTES 7 REMPARTS 6 (OT)

QUEBEC CITY — Dennis Yan scored the overtime winner and added three assists as Shawinigan edged the Remparts.

Anthony Beauvillier also had a goal and three assists for the Cataractes (21-8-1), who also got two goals from Alexis D’Aoust. Giovanni Fiore, Mathieu Olivier and Alex Pawelczyk added the others.

Dmytro Timashov scored twice and added three assists for Quebec (16-12-3). Charley Graaskamp had a goal and two assists with Bronson Beaton, Mikeal Robidoux and Matthew Boucher rounding out the attack.

SCREAMING EAGLES 2 PHOENIX 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Michael Joly had a goal and an assist as Cape Breton slipped past the Phoenix.

Evgeny Svechnikov opened the scoring 54 seconds into the second period for the Screaming Eagles (15-13-3).

Guillaume Gauthier scored his 25th goal of the season on the power play late in the third for Sherbrooke (12-13-5).

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Bo Taylor stopped all 21 shots he faced and Alexandre Alain struck twice as Gatineau shut out the Voltigeurs.

Dylan Callaghan, Vincent Milot-Ouellet, Vitalii Abramov and Yan Pavel Laplante supplied the rest of the offence for the Olympiques (20-8-2).

Anthony Dumont-Bouchard kicked out 32 shots for Drummondville (15-16-0).

OCEANIC 3 ARMADA 2

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Antoine Dufort-Plante scored the winner on the power play as the Oceanic topped Blainville-Boisbriand.

Samuel Laberge and Beau Rusk also chipped in as Rimouski (19-9-2) scored three unanswered goals to end the game. Tyler Boland tacked on three helpers.

Yvan Mongo and Samuel Tremblay found the back of the net for the Armada (11-15-4).
