QMJHL Roundup: Fortin nets winner for Huskies

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Alexandre Fortin scored 2:26 into overtime to lift the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to a 4-3 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Martins Dzierkals, Alexandre Sills and Allan Caron scored in regulation for Rouyn-Noranda (17-1-4).

Mitchell Balmas scored twice for the Islanders (10-9-3) and Oliver Cooper also found the back of the net. Kameron Kielly chipped in with three assists.

Samuel Harvey made 24 saves for the win. Mason McDonald stopped 36 shots in the losing effort.

The Huskies were 1 for 9 on the power play while Charlottetown converted on 2-of-6 chances with the man advantage.

WILDCATS 4 DRAKKAR 1

MONCTON, N.B. — Manuel Wiederer had a goal and two assists to help lift the Wildcats over Baie-Comeau.

Cameron Askew added a goal and a helper and William Bower and Kevin Klima rounded out the Moncton (13-6-2) attack.

Chad Pietroniro supplied the offence for the Drakkar (3-15-1), on a power play in the second period.

PHOENIX 7 TIGRES 3

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Guillaume Gauthier scored three goals and helped set up two more to power Sherbrooke over the Tigres.

Thomas Gregoire, Kevin Gilbert, Julien Pelletier and Chase Harwell also scored for the Phoenix (9-9-4).

Tristan Pomerleau struck twice for Victoriaville (9-9-3) and Felix Lauzon added the other. Danyck Calgaro was given a game misconduct in the third period.

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Etienne Montpetit stopped all 26 shots his way as the Foreurs blanked Blainville-Boisbriand.

Julien Gauthier, Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant and Jan Mandat had a goal and an assist apiece for Val-d’Or (13-7-3). Anthony Richard also scored.

Samuel Montembeault made 18 saves for the Armada (8-12-2).

OLYMPIQUES 3 CATARACTES 1

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Vitalii Abramov had a goal and an assist to help Gatineau get past the Cataractes.

Elie Berube and Yakov Trenin supplied the rest of the offence for the Olympiques (13-6-2).

Giovanni Fiore had the lone goal for Shawinigan (18-4-0).

REMPARTS 10 SCREAMING EAGLES 6

QUEBEC CITY — Nikolas Brouillard scored three goals and added three assists as the Remparts downed Cape Breton.

Dmytro Timashov had two goals and three helpers and Massimo Carozza also struck twice for Quebec (12-9-2). Charley Graaskamp, Bronson Beaton and Matthew Boucher added the others.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Maxim Lazarev each scored two goals and set up another for the Screaming Eagles (10-10-3). Olivier LeBlanc and Loik Leveille rounded out the attack.
