QMJHL roundup: Gagne leads Tigres to victory

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – Gabriel Gagne’s power-play goal 8:00 into the third period stood as the winner as the Victoriaville Tigres held off the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for a 3-2 victory on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Pascal Laberge opened the scoring in the second period for the Tigres (14-12-5) and Jake Barter also scored. All three Victoriaville goals came on the power play.

Tobi Paquette-Bison put Baie-Comeau (5-22-2) on the board early in the third period and Matt Jones scored with less than eight minutes to go to bring the Drakkar to within a goal.

Olivier Tremblay stopped 27 shots for the win. Keven Bouchard made 27 saves in a losing effort.

The Tigres were 3 for 6 on the power play while Baie-Comeau failed to scored on eight chances with the man advantage.
