QMJHL Roundup: Gagne plays hero as Remparts edge Cataractes

SHAWINIGAN, Que. – Benjamin Gagne scored in overtime as the Quebec Remparts edged the Shawinigan Cataractes 5-4 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Gregor MacLeod, Sam Dunn, Olivier Garneau and Matthew Grouchy had goals in regulation time for the Remparts (28-20-5). Dereck Baribeau made 27 saves for the win.

Max-Antoine Melancon struck twice for the Cataractes (15-32-4), while Jan Drozg and Jeremy Manseau also scored. Mathieu Bellemare kicked out 31 shots for Shawinigan.

Quebec went 0 for 2 on the power play and the Cataractes were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

VOLTIGEURS 3 HUSKIES 1

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Joe Veleno had a hat trick as the Voltigeurs topped Rouyn-Noranda.

Veleno put away the eventual winner for Drummondville (35-14-2) at 13:06 of the first period.

Hugo Despres responded for the Huskies (30-14-8).

MOOSEHEADS 6 ISLANDERS 2

CHARLOTTETOWN — Filip Zadina scored four times as Halifax defeated the Islanders.

Raphael Lavoie had the eventual winner the Mooseheads (34-12-6) at 16:18 of the second period. Jared McIsaac also scored for Halifax.

Derek Gentile and Keith Getson replied for Charlottetown (28-19-4).
